At the time of posting, the bomb squad has defused the worst of the booby traps. Maybe now the local cops can tell us something. (Whoever else I suspect, I don't suspect them.)

Three issues about the Midnight Movie Massacre of July 20, 2012:
1. Why were the media so quick to identify someone without even trying to make sure they had the same James Holmes? ABC-TV found someone with the same first and last names, but a different middle name, and said, "Here's your man!" And ABC-TV's man was a Tea Party guy. How convenient. And now that man is "set up" for death threats.
2. Why were all those politicians ready to roll with more calls for gun control? Did anyone stop to think that maybe--just maybe--if the theater owners let CCW permit holders carry their weapons inside, the Midnight Movie Massacre need never have happened?
3. Can you believe this guy? Where'd he get all those weapons? They cost $20,000. Where'd he get that kind of money? Why did he stop just because one of his guns jammed? (He had other guns; why didn't he use them?) Why'd he set up a music program to play LOUD MUSIC in his apartment from midnight to 1:00 a.m., and even leave his door unlocked? Why did he surrender, when he was armed and armored for a real fight, or even to shoot his way out of there?

I have a different question - why adults took their 6 year old children to the midnite's movie? No child would be effected if they stayed home at midnite.
It's extremely dumb to bring a 6 year old too. Aren't his health and good sleep more important than a movie premiere???? I don't get it.
Did he work somewhere, or stole the money??? How could he get this money for the 4 guns and ammo, is my question.
But the fact is - we've come to a sad crossroads. The political mileage Obama and his team will try and make is going to be ugly.

I see nothing particularly suspicious to issues 1 and 2: The media and politicians have long been opportunists eager to capitalize on a crisis, but I haven't seen any red flags that they really knew too much too quickly (such as after the JFK assassination) or anything like that.
Most of issue 3 can be answered pretty simply. A guy this crazy and dedicated is, well...pretty crazy and dedicated. He may have used school loan money (or something similar) for the guns, or he may have had access to college fund money or something similar, and his high level of intelligence and sophistication led him to go "all out." Instead of just shooting people up and committing suicide by cop and letting that be the end, he wanted to kill anyone investigating his apartment afterward too. As someone else in another poll mentioned, it seems he had quite the Joker complex, so it makes sense that he was twisted enough to deliberately create more chaos and fear even after his death.
The fact that he surrendered is actually more indicative to me of cowardice than ...

Once he was surrounded and realized he could make it out alive, I suppose he just took the opportunity. That reinforces that he was someone acting under his own volition, rather than acting as some disposable brainwashed intelligence psy-ops asset...but then again, it's still technically possible that he had help from shadowy elements that he's in no position to substantially implicate. I just don't see evidence for it at this point. There's also practically no chance that he's a non-brainwashed intelligence asset who was carrying out orders with full comprehension: If he were, he would know too much to be captured alive...he would have either been killed or helped to escape.
