Quite the stupid pick for Romney according to GOP pundits like George Will and Joe Scarborough. Paul (Ayn Rand) Ryanhood will be a lightening bolt not accepted by independents nor seniors.

Ryan's take the money from the middle class budget fits in with the overall GOP plan to only have an upper class and lower class.

Which seems to be the plan for the world the way things are moving.

How could anyone be surprised? Romney was campaigning months ago lauding the Ryan budget plan. It was clear then that he had Ryan on his short list. Ryan's also a hard-right conservative. If Romney is going to get half of the voting citizens of the US to believe his monstrous lie about being a conservative, putting Ryan in the #2 slot is a good way of continuing to sell that lie.

I am an Obama supporter too, and anti-racism, but this is racism. We shouldn't say that white men favor white men over everyone else. Like all stereotypes, that's just not true of the people stereotyped. And I bet none of us here have ever even met Romney. I am against his platform, but we shouldn't insult by calling him racist. I would not vote for Romney, but I don't believe in mudslinging. If we just try, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and people of all political parties can get along.

Bipartisanship is a wonderful thing. Repubs want Ryan almost as much as Dems do.

It's not racist to refer to race. Re-learn the definition of racism, please. Race is relevant and it's not going anywhere.
  • Iamfree Bibliop... 2012/08/13 21:46:12
    Iamfree
Oh really? So you have no problem with someone judging Mr. Obama based on his race? I can tell you I certainly do have a problem with it. Just like I have a problem with your statement. Race is not relevant to someone's qualifications to be Pres/VP. Your bringing the issue up is racism by any other name.

Mentioning race is not the same as making a judgment.

ex. There are a lot of black people in this room. (Okay)
vs. I think that the black people in this room are ------(ethnic slur). (Not okay)

I don't know how else to explain it.

According to this definition how was the question he asked racist?
    uiuiuiu
Also it's true that whites are the majority in the USA and it's typical of a Republican to choose a running mate with all of the EXACT same qualities as himself. Race is relevant. It would be relevant if his running mate were not white as well.

I expected it, I am sorry to say. So much for the Etch-a-Sketch. Romney is determined to pander to the right, and he couldn't get much further right than Ryan. Now he will adopt Ryan's draconian budget plan as his own, and we are left with an obvious choice in November.

Ryan is the perfect choice. Young, fresh and fiscally conservative. Conservatives choose a candidate based on qualifications, not on skin color like............well, you see where this is going.

Yes, into the gutter. Why bring race into the discussion?

Yes, Ryan is the perfect choice for a man determined to lose in November. Ryan will drag Willard down with his plan to gut Medicare and Social Security, two programs favored by 80% of Americans.

Conservative commentators think it was a bad choice. Personally, I think it was great.

ONLY a LEFT WINGER would focus on the race of the pick..

Seems like Romney ONLY followed the words of Martin Luther King when he said tthat a person should be judged by the content of their character rather then the color of their skin..

And if the election of Obama did ANYTHING... ANYTHING AT ALL..

It PROVED forever the WISDOM of Martin Luther King's Words and the REASONS why they are so wise....

I don't think in this case race or sex or age had to do with it. Of course the VP would be middle aged, there are age requirements after all. If Romney had chosen a black man or woman, lets be honest; everyone would be saying that he chose them for their race or sex in order to gain votes from 'minority' groups, now that would be unsurprising.

In this case I believe he choose Ryan for his focus on right-wing-leaned economic plans. Romney believes his winning ticket lies in the economy, which is how he has avoided talking about certain social issues by simply saying "My focus is on economy and jobs" and by hiring a VP who has a career around the economy he is simply continuing with the previous statement. He is trying to win over moderates by distancing himself from social issues that might be unpopular with a growing population of the US and pushing for the fiscal issues.

Romney is a politician, that is his main concern. The man barely knows who he is anymore since his been caught up so high in politics, every decision he makes is no longer personal, it is business. That's what politics does to you.

First off, Romney is 65, Ryan is only 42. (so much for two middle aged guys).

Secondly ANYBODY is a better choice than Obama, black, white, yellow or purple.

What seems to be your problem with white guys, when 73% of this nation is white.

So what - that picture could have been taken any time, anywhere and there is no evidence that it has anything to do with Paul Ryan's selection. These people are probably not your friends; you probably don't know who they are, and you most likely cut and pasted the pic from a google search just like we all do. The address on the bottom clearly indicates you got it off the interent and the guy is a complete geek - shorts with dark mid-calf socks - a bad fashion statement

I think a lot will change if Ryan can articulate his message and counteract all of the lies and misinformation spewed by the Obamas. It has been a part of the democratic party agenda for 50 years to accuse Rebublicans of wanting to cut medicare. It is typical, lowlife fear mongering. I hope it doesn't work

That is a deceitful and dispicable attempt to put words in the mouths of both Ryan and Romney. Ryan's plan, as has been discussed ad nausium, does absolutely nothing to the Social Security benefits of Americans 55 and over. Elderly Americans are unaffected by Ryan's plan. American 54 years of age and younger are given an opportunity to involve themselves in a restructured and hopefully viable plan that is designed as an attempt to fix Medicare before it goes broke (if, in fact, it is not already broke). If Medicare stays at it is, it is much less likely to be a viable plan for people who will not benefit from it until 2022. All of the little excerpts in that piece were statements made by Democratic shills who support Obama and have every motive to discredit and lie about Ryan's proposals. You are a dispicable and blatant liar.

You said, "I was shocked yesterday to find out some of my more Conservative friends saying, they're voting for Obama after they got the news that Romney chose Paul Ryan for his VP." There was not nearly sufficient time elapsed for any actual friends of yours to tell you that they are not going to vote for Romney just because he had picked Ryan as his running mate. You made that up, or at least it appears that way to me. And, if they made that kind of knee jerk reaction and would consider voting for Obama then they are hardly Conservative. No true Conservative who knows his butt from a hole in the ground is going to vote for that moron or anyone else in his party. And, if you support Obama, I doubt if you have any Conservative friends. (Of course, my tongue is slightly in my cheek on that one.)
