Rape has become endemic in South Africa, so a medical technician named Sonette Ehlers developed a product that immediately gathered national attention there. Ehlers had never forgotten a rape victim telling her forlornly, “If only I had teeth down there.”
Some time afterward, a man came into the hospital where Ehlers works in excruciating pain because his penis was stuck in his pants z

Ehlers merged those images and came up with a product she called Rapex. It resembles a tube, with barbs inside. The woman inserts it like a tampon, with an applicator, and any man who tries to rape the woman impales himself on the barbs and must go to an emergency room to have the Rapex removed.
When critics complained that it was a medieval punishment, Ehlers replied tersely, “A medieval device for a medieval deed.”

The only way to stop rape is to teach men to respect women. A culture where all issues can be freely discussed is necessary. Many men who become rapists and murderers have been victims of abuse in the past (not all, but many). Revitalizing the criminal justice system and the (largely) failed foster care system would help prevent the creation of future abusers. These people are not monsters- they are human, your neighbor, your family member or your friend. Education which includes teaching people to respect the bodies and minds of other people is the only weapon against abuse. Also, letting notorious criminals out on parole with NO rehabilitation contributes to further violent sexual crimes. If these men are going to get out of jail for committing rape or child molestation they NEED to be reformed- not punished. They need a reason NOT to exact vengeance upon the world.
Not saying the rapist doesn't deserve this treatment. Only that such people would react with rage and end up killing the woman. I wonder if this company has any stats on this?
Regarding the "device" itself, realistically, I highly doubt anyone will actually walk around with one of these things inserted on a daily basis anyway. ;)
Although some Masochists might enjoy it....
However, i'm also one of those people who see the darker side of this if it were used for other nefarious reasons.
