Oh, I certainly hope so! After 18-19 years of loyal Windows use, I am going Mac and I'm NEVER going back! The Windows operating system has more bugs than a trucker's windshield. I've had Windows since v. 3.1 and it has always been garbage. But, Microshaft kept promising a newer better version. This one will be better, we swear! Just shell out another $100 for the latest and greatest. And, like a battered spouse, I believed that they'd changed. The blue screen of death would be gone for good, I thought. So, I bought it. Prettier and faster but still garbage. And reality stung me like a slap across the face. But, then a newer version was on the horizon. This time we fixed the issues and added some more features like a virus-prone browser that you have no choice but to use. Hmmm, I don't know. Trust us! Besides, you spent all that money on Windows software. Well, that's true. Okay, here's another $100. What the f^(%?! Unstable as a three-legged table! Sucker!! But, it is a LITTLE better and so still I believed that they'd work out the kinks in the next version. We admit the last one had problems but THIS time it's rock solid (as long as you don't try to use it). Beaten and smacked but still wanting so badly to believe, again I to...

Okay, okay, we know, but Windows 7 will really blow your socks off! Just sign right here on this credit card slip and good luck. Okay, but this is your last chance before I file a restraining order. It's new; it's pretty; it's still crap! Goodbye! It's over, Mr. Gates. But..but... can I interest you in Windows 8? What about Internet Explorer 10? Office 2013?

No, but can I interest you in a swift kick in the @$$?! F U Microshaft! Burn in hell, Bill Gates!!

What exactly is wrong with windows 7? The last 3 years I've had not a single blue screen of death. Nor do I find all these "bugs" you talk about. If windows 7 is unstable, how is mine running a web server, a mysql server, 24/7, with the overhead of daily usage, for weeks on end? Who says you're forced to use IE? You also have the choice to use IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and apple's own Safari! How awesome is that? Also, spending $100 every 5 years for an OS upgrade is hardly worth mentioning. Typical bashing with no real examples of how the software is "buggy". I have never been happier with any other OS like I am with Windows 7 for "personal use". I have experience with windows, mac, and linux and each I would use for a different purpose.

A crash a day; just like clockwork! But, to be fair Mr. Gates, it only crashes when I try to use it. And, it took a court order for Microshaft to unbundle Incompetent Explorer from your OS, Bill. Oh sorry, Mister Gates. And, stay off SodaHead Bill. Go fund a socialist cause with your ill-gotten gains.

They are only still around because of a popular Office suite, everyone had to use Windows to use Microsoft Office... and hence Windows became the OS of choice for corporate America.

For the moment. Windows Phone looks hideous, and they're being arrogant enough to say that "The smartphone beta test is over, here's what we've got now." If anyone says that again, fire then on the spot. You'll never be able to sell another phone after that, and it just sounds egotistical.

But just because they've had a drop, it doesn't mean they'll fail, just that they've got dust over them from then they tripped.

Microsoft was founded in 1975. That means they've had 140-some fiscal quarters. Of that, 1 has been in the negative. That's the mark of a steady, reliable company.

First time in nearly 3 decades as a public company that they've posted a loss, I don't think they're going to be too affected by this. Plus, Windows 8 release is only a few months away so they'll make up this loss and then some.

I think Microsoft has been a company in decline for a long time, at least as far as their primary business model is concerned (selling a proprietary operating system). They've played second fiddle in a lot of the other sectors they've moved into also, like search. Their gaming division still shows a lot of promise though, and it started being profitable in 2008 IIRC. Xbox Live is a gold mine. I'm not sure if I LIKE Microsoft's gaming division being so profitable, since I'm not a fan of walled gardens, but...meh, we'll see.

Microsoft is failing in their bread-and-butter product of operating system.

If MS can evolve like Apple, they should have no problem maintaining their dominance in the field of operating systems.

If they don't evolve, they will go the way of the Dodo bird.

    linux vs apple vs windows
