Right-to-work laws mean fewer jobs moved overseas. It may mean lower wages, but lower-wage places are where the jobs go.
High minimum wages and unions do nothing to permanently improve the standard of living. They may improve it TEMPORARILY, i.e. until labor becomes unaffordable and companies have to cut costs by moving production overseas, or at least to a Right-To-Work state, but in the long run, high minimum wages and unions decrease the standard of living by making labor unaffordable, thereby driving it out of the country altogether, which means jobs are LOST.
Everyone has a right to work for any employer who is willing to hire them. They should not be coerced or forced to join a union against their will. Unions collect dues from it's members and then funnel that money right back to a political party that members may or may NOT wish to support. And we all know which party that is.
If right-to-work is one step to poverty, then unions are THREE steps to poverty.
With right-to-work, you may have lower-paying jobs, but at least you still have jobs.
With unions, the jobs are so high-paying that companies cannot afford them, and so the jobs go somewhere else where they are not as costly to the companies, such as OVERSEAS.
It's greed that drives companies overseas, to the sweat shops that pay a dollar a day or less. Most of my life, as a union member I was the sole bread winner. My wife was the home makerand took care of the kids. Now it takes both husband and wife, and still they can't keep their heads above water. Why?? because people like you believe in the right to work, and have been brainwashed into believing unions are evil. Keep it up and soon you'll be forced to get another job just to put food on the table.
Right to Work is really just short for "mooching of unions." This bill basically says that you can be a part of a union and not pay dues, which basically causes moochers who like their union but don't want to pay to support it but want others to, or even go around the unions and work for $10 an hour, which is about $20,000 a year for a 40 hour work week without holidays.
Either way, it's terrible for the average worker. I'm not saying unions aren't corrupt, but I am saying that it's much better to make $30 an hour plus benefits, which WAS the wage of the GM plants in Michigan, than $15 an hour and no benefits, which was the wage of the same type of worker in the Right to Work state of Tennessee. Again, that's $60k to $30k. Just think about it for a minute.
why should the auto workers get paid good money to do easy jobs. i think if the job is hard then you get paid more. if the job is easy and you can basically train a monkey to do it why should they get paid more.
You bet. Take the unions down now. Bye, bye thugs that run American jobs out of this country. This includes the public sector unions that are parasites sucking our tax money down the drain.
Thanks for standing up for business looking to put this country on an even keel with chinese workers. What is wrong with you people? Can't you see the end game here?
The liberal mafia is collapsing in front of our eyes, these are historical times in America.
What do we have: An illegal Muslim elected to the presidency, voter fraud, escalating racial tension, the most lying media in history, the collapse of a criminal organization( the unions and Acorn) voter fraud in a second election, lawsuits against states that tried to defend themselves from illegals and history continues to show just how volatile Obama has lead this country to become.
As shown by the behavior of the "union representatives" and the speech by Mr. Hoffa, the unions have become nothing but strong armed criminals protecting the rights of no one and encroaching on the rights of everyone - unfortunately I think Mr. Hoffa – there will be blood – already has been a drop or two from the most recent “union action” of assault and battery against a man in full public view…
Don't get me wrong, I can see both sides. I live in RI, I know how bad some union bosses are and how some people can get ripped off. But the decline of labor has had real consequences in terms of wages, benefits, trade policy, etc. and not to the American public's benefit. Plus there's the free rider problem.
They threatened to fire my Dad if he didn't join them. So i hope that this spreads across america soon. (He left that job and joined a Union free one). Whoo!
What in heck's your problem. You consider the rich man your enemy but you belly up to the scum that runs these unions. These people are not paupers, my friend.
I've never been hired by a poor man. I have no problem with those that have money. I feel folks are entitled to enjoy the fruits of their labors. C'mon, don't get mad because they aren't sharing with you. You didn't work for it so you aren't entitled to it. The unions are scum, they are thugs and they have become too powerful because of weak minded folks like you.
Oh yes unions have been very good at offering perks that keep the workers blinded to their true agenda and their true agenda is more power. Many people don't look beyond their own happiness to see if there is a down side to getting what you want.
""Oh yes unions have been very good at offering perks that keep the workers blinded to their true agenda and their true agenda is more power."" You're also describing your employer, what's the difference?

Better a low-paying job than NO job at all.
