Michelle Obama Dodges Questions On Palin: What Does She Really Think About Sarah?

Jackie 2010/02/11 18:12:36
The First Lady obviously can't stand the wretched Sarah Palin.
Michelle has enough room in her heart even for the despicable Sarah Palin.
I think Michelle Obama's feelings about Sarah Palin are...

Every time a reporter asks Michelle Obama about Sarah Palin, the First Lady manages to avoid a direct answer. "You know, I don't know her. And what I've learned in this arena is that unless I've had a chance to have a conversation with somebody and get to know them, I have no idea who she is," Obama said when speaking about Palin's memoir.

When the First Lady went on Larry King Live, the host attempted to get a rise out of her with Palin's comments at the National Tea Party Convention. "And our president would do well to take note of an observation John F. Kennedy had made once he was in office. That all of the world's problems aren't his predecessor's fault." Palin continued to mock the president saying, ""How is that hope-y, change-y stuff working out for ya?"

Even on King, Mrs. Obama managed to hold back. "You know, I -- you know, I don't have a read. I mean, I try not to make or -- or set opinions about people that I haven't had any, you know, substantive interaction with."

Get real, Michelle! Palin has insulted your man countless times.

Is this your excuse for playing the race card?

Why on earth would Michelle envy Palin? She is First Lady of the U.S. and lives in the White House, while Palin is an ex-politician who lives in Wasilla.

I do not believe that either Mr. or Mrs. Obama hate white people. I believe that they may have *once* done so, as most blacks have, but if you read my other comments, you might understand why. As a white, I once hated black people, because that's how I was raised, but I no longer do. People change over time; when Obama ran for President, he stepped out on a limb and held out the hope that white Americans had progressed to the point that they could see him for his ideas and not for his skin color. Perhaps his election has changed his outlook on whites; maybe that's why he separated himself from that racist pastor. I'm going to judge President Obama on what he says and does *today*, not what may have happened before he was President.

Well, you have to admit she took the high road if for no other reason than being gracious not to say anything about Gov. Palin. Not Michelle's usual candor but then like obama's handlers learned early on with her, best keep it to canned and controlled environments. An easy lesson to remember from the first lady during the Clinton administration.

If you've got nothing good to say, say nothing at all. Well done!

She never said she was "finally" proud, She said "really" proud, as in a step above just proud.

    Got anything else?

I'd say that the spin doctors have done a fine job building a mountain out of a molehill, but I'm afraid they might accuse me of comparing them to a unionized labor force that actually manufactures US products instead of basing the entirety of our economy on buying things from China.

No doubt, spin doctors work both sides of the aisles -- if only there were a way to generate energy off the relentless spin-counterspin mechanism in American politics.

While we owe our debt to China (literally), I see no reason why we shouldn't strive to rebuild the American manufacturing base this country once held

Although I'm not in the Barrak/Michelle fan club, I've got to say that Michelle shows restraint, intelligence, and wisdom in NOT dissing Palin. Who knows, she may need Palin one day, or she wouldn't want to further push away future constituents. If I were her, I'd keep my mouth closed about any negativity toward others, particularly if they might come back to bite her (besides, it's not nice to malign others, particularly in public).

When did she express hatred? There's a quote being deliberately taken out of context, but beyond that, what do you have?

Was Michelle a member of some backwater group aimed at seceding from the nation or something?

What quote are you talking about that was taken out of context? I sure didn't quote anyone.
I have been accused of hate hundreds of times here on SH yet I have NEVER said anything even remotely about hating anyone, and I most definitely NEVER have even come close to showing hate for my Country

how is that taken out of context? she plainly states it was the "first" time she was proud of her country so it is clear she was not before and to me that is unpatriotic hatred !
  • herb RhinoRT 2010/02/13 19:14:50
    herb
It's being taken out of context because she describes for the first time being really proud of her country, and she has explained its meaning. You prefer to bear false witness about the statement.
