First Lady Michelle Obama will be attempting to break the jumping jack world record. No, she won't be jumping by herself, but it should still be fun to watch!
As part of her fight against childhood obesity, Michelle Obama is helping to round up enough people to break the Guinness World Record title for "most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period." The official name of the campaign, a joint effort between the First Lady and National Geographic Kids, is “Let’s Jump!” National Geographic has deemed Michelle Obama the official “Jumper in Chief.”
Jumpers can be of any age and can be located anywhere around the world. Each participant is required to do jumping jacks for one full minute, nonstop between 3 p.m. ET October 11, 2011 and 3 p.m. ET October 12, 2011. Michelle Obama will be jumping with hundreds of Washington, D.C., schoolchildren on the South Lawn on Tuesday.
The official record to beat, set March 22, 2011, is 20,425 jumpers. And Guinness World Records sure does take the accuracy of their records seriously! The “Let’s Jump!” website lays out the rules for participation and documentation. To be counted as jumper you must have an independent witness and a timekeeper (at least 18 years of age) who are required to fill out official forms.
What do you think about Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Jump!” campaign? Is it worthwhile or a waste of time?

Physical fitness program was founded by President Eisenhower (R) in 1956 and carried on by future Presidents, both Republicans and Democrats, but it was a Republican that started it to begin with.
Just kidding.
It hasn't happened yet.
