I think Bomb sniffing dogs are cool and should be used. The only problem is that there is no such thing as a scent called "Bomb". The dogs are trained to sniff out things that can be used in a bomb such as Gunpowder, Sodium Nitrate, Potassium Nitrate, etc...

Chances are this will turn out to be nothing. So what. If it does turn out to be that there is a bomb on the van, great. If it is a delivery van, it may have been used recently to transport fireworks, or fertilizer, etc... No big deal...

Dogs should be the first and foremost detectors of bombs and narcotics and other contraband. Four dogs from birth to retirement including training, vet care, and all other animal needs would be cheaper than just one of those stupid machines that invade our bodies. One dog can be trained to detect everything that needs to be detected and will always be better than any machine. I sat down one day and did the math on dog vs machine when it comes to cost and it did not surprise me at all.

MIAMI -- A bomb squad was called to investigate a van at Miami International Airport on Monday afternoon, Miami-Dade police said.

Bomb-sniffing dogs alerted authorities to possible explosives aboard a van at the airport.

The bomb squad is investigating the van, which is parked away from the airport terminal.
