Mexican President Calderon Sets the Rules for National Guard Troops on the Border

Posted by Jim Hoft on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, 5:29 AM

The White House released a statement yesterday following their decision to deploy 1,200 National Guard troops to the border to target illicit trafficking networks:

The President is committed to a strategic approach, consisting of a requirements-based, temporary utilization of up to 1,200 additional National Guard troops to bridge to longer-term enhancements in border protection and law enforcement personnel from the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice to target illicit networks’ trafficking in people, drugs, illegal weapons, money, and the violence associated with these illegal activities.

Later in the day Mexican President Calderon set the rules for the troops.
From the Mexican Foreign Ministry, via Michelle Malkin:

Regarding the Administration’s decision to send 1,200 National Guard servicemen to the US Southern border, the Government of Mexico trusts that this decision will help to channel additional US resources to enhance efforts to prevent the illegal flows of weapons and bulk cash into Mexico, which provide organized crime with its firepower and its ability to corrupt.

Additionally, the Government of Mexico expects that National Guard personnel will strengthen US operations in the fight against transnational organized crime that operates on both sides of our common border and that it will not, in accordance to its legal obligations, conduct activities directly linked to the enforcement of immigration laws.

At least we know who the boss is.(OBOWMA is at it again the man has no balls!)

Calderon is posturing, trying to turn us against one another. Obama is simply letting the weight of public opinion push the immigration agenda forward. The majority of Americans (liberal and conservative alike) is against amnesty because it's a very bad idea on too many levels to ignore. Try to understand that the longer this plays out, the better it is for nativists because it allows more time to teach the hard truth to those who do not understand the problem. So put away your stupid ropes and slurs. It's altogether unbecoming and gets us nowhere.

Good Lord, he needs to focus on running Mexico that is out of control and stay out of our Country. He isn't an elected official or even an American citizen. Butt out bud before we show you how to butt out.

Did obama explain to the world hoe evil and stupid America is. I'm sure that will be the next step. I just hope the moron in chief is told by his teleprompter that the troops Mexico uses in cross border raids and to shake down drug dealers and coyotes are not only swat trained but also special ops elite troops. We need combat ready experienced troops if we are going to avoid a seriously bad incident.

He's soothing his citizens feathers, how would you feel if mexico and the US's strength were reversed and mexico started putting soldiers all around our borders? i woudlnt like it a bit and i would expect my President to reassure me those soldiers were going to behave themselves and stay on their side of the line. Im vehemently against illegal immigration and i really dislike Calderon but i cant fault him for reassuring his citizens which is all he is doing, he is in no way issuing orders to our soldiers.

What is truly sad is that Barry will do what he's told to do by the Meskin government. He needs the voters.

How about we just ignore this man, quit giving him any press coverage, and go about our business of securing that border as we see fit, including activities directly linked to the enforcement of our own immigration laws. Silence is golden - we need to quit listening to and responding to tinhorn thirdworld dictators because we're just making them feel like they are important

So... he expects us to weed out the bad dudes from the good? Illegal is illegal. There is no difference. They want to come to this country, use the proper system and front door!
