But when did common sense ever stop a moral meddler from believing that a bigger hammer was the solution to every problem in the world... At least the political class can say that they cared and they tried and that they did something-- even if it was only to apply a band-aid to cover up an increasingly infected wound... Right?
I don't care if people want to stuff their faces and balloon up to the size of a Brinks truck. That is their call. But it hikes up health care big time because more and more people have health issues related to obesity. So, why should I pay because someone insists on the triple cheeseburger and a couple of orders of super size fries.
No, I don't agree that mayors should be able to determine what can and cannot be served in their cities. But we need a huge call out about obesity. We did with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, and it helped tremendously with awareness. We had the call out about seat belts. Stranger Danger. The problem with obesity is that many people simply don't care enough to change their habits. They live for food. Sad.
