Alcohol destroys people's lives and can kill. Marijuana has never caused death, it heals glaucoma, nausea, chronic pain and can be used for fuel and building materials, paper, clothing, you name it. Pretty easy question to answer.

Marijuana isn't as great as everyone says, but alcohol is far worse. Generally people abuse it a lot more and are more likely to become violent.

Alcohol is more disruptive, but only because it is more prevalent. To make the comparison fair, both would have to be equally and legally available.

I say alcohol because the effects on different people are so erratic. Even on different days the effects on the same person can be widely varying. The consequenses are immediate and long lasting as far as being inebriated, publicly drunk, driving drunk and long term alcoholism.
Pot is almost as bad because of the effects on the brain. I know people who can't remember anything because of the amount of pot they smoked in thier youth. Pot contriutes to general apathy. If we fully legalize pot I believe our country will finish going down the tubes.

Alcohol is by far the worst, I really think that if someone go's a little nut's after smoking pot, they were most likely Crazy to start with, and using it along with other drugs of choice.

Alcoholics can get angry when they drink. Never really seen that from a pot head.

I smoke a lot of pot and drink very little on account of I see how people act when they are drunk. I mean it's pathetic the way they behave when on alcohol. Case in point yesterday these two guys were sitting talking to one another and they got in a fight, because they were drunk and that happens all the time. People get together and drink and something in their alcohol addled brain decides to cause a fight to break out and that pisses me off . Makes me want to quote Rodney King ," Can't we all just get along". I smoked some pot and mellowed out. Alcohol is the evil you know Demon rum and all. Alcohol kills people, smoking marijuana makes a person to laid back to do any violence.

I haven't smoked in quite some time but when I did I found that there were very big differences in strains.
When I did smoke I prefered Sativa(like White Widow) over Indica. The Indica based weed was a couch lock and made me a bit paranoid.
I enjoy a glass of Red Wine some now, the laws are too scary

I hear you about the marijuana laws that's why I do not have a medical marijuana card because I do not want the federal government to know that I am using the herb to relieve pain. Though I am absolutely positive that the local government does.

Because it makes you stupid. Not saying Alcohol
Is great either, but I know two people close to me where it's ruined their life because there is some notion that it is harmless, a underground support group of pot users that think they are great because they all love pot so much. The first one was my first serious boyfriend- I thought he would stop, or grow up- he became dependant on it to deal with stress, boredom, to visit his parents....became depressed with the thought of not using it everyday. Couldn't focus on school work, put off priorities....began losing memory! I hated the stuff, but tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. Not one of his pot smoking friends did anything worthwhile with themselves! I ended it since we were going in different directions. It was a shame too because he was so smart. The other guy married my sister, became an addictive pot smoker, and is SO dumb now. Can't hold a real conversation to save his life....anxiety filled when he's not on it. Can't cope with life either. Pot may seem harmless, but seriously, it creates people who can't cope with being "normal". So sad. The one alcoholic I knew close to me, my other sister's husband (both sister's dumped the guys because the guys refuses to quit), turned into a train wreck too. End conclusion: just because you have one hungry bear in your back yard, doesn't mean you should invite a starving tiger into your yard too. One problem creates enough problems.

pot really isn't addictive, mainly it's psychlogical, booze on the other hand can be a physical addiction

Oh yes it is. Ruined a relationship of mine. Boyfriend became dependant on it to deal with stress, cope wih life, could not stand the thought of not having it to relax- so sad! He began forgetting things big time. No ambition, no motivation. Don't tell me it's not addictive- it is. My sister married a pot head too- it was cute until she had kids and the big burn out could not hold a job. Now he can't even talk withhout getting flustered and stupid if the subject matter requires any logic or real thinking. The guy's an idiot. Same story- no motivation. It makes people lazy and stupid. Keep telling yourself otherwise. Just do me a favor- don't have kids- it's not fair to them to have such boobs for fathers.

are you saying i would be a boob for a father?
  • Janet C K Monty 2012/08/29 05:58:43
    Janet C K
If you're so selfish to not be a clear thinking, best you can be father, all because you have to smoke pot because you can't appreciate what it feels like to be normal- yes. Your kid deserves better than pathetic.

my father was a hardcore alcoholic and i've had many problems with booze throughout my life,so that what makes me think boozes pales in comparisment to pot. my father and brother both were violent alcoholcs and i've had my troubles with it as well in the past.

Sorry to hear that. BUT, just because you have a hungry bear in the back yard, doesn't mean adding a hungry tiger is a good idea too in terms of legalization goes-- which is usually what the underlying point behind polls like this are. Maybe both should be illegal.

Don't say mj has never caused deaths. There are many documented instances of mj high in fatal auto accidents. But alcohol, I agree, does destroy families.

Perhaps I phrased that wrongly. Should have said no one has ever died from smoking mj like they have from drinking alcohol. I read an article in Road and Track magazine back in the 70s where they had professional drivers smoke an entire joint and then drive. The overall times were a bit slower but they made less mistakes so they scored better stoned than they did straight. Won't see that one around now. But I believe people in any altered state should not be driving. Especially inexperienced drivers.

Too easily accessible, legal, acceptable, praised, put on a pedestal, cheap, affects negatively, more than the person doing it, and destroys so, so many lives because it is legal!

It should be very clear. Hard to wrap my head around the insane laws against it. I believe there are more medicines in this one plant than any other if we could only study it. Back in the seventies they were using it to successfully shrink tumors. Whatever happened to that?
