I don't think, or at least I hope you wont find somebody who says justified, but this is exactly why so many gay people are afraid to hold hands with their partner in public. If somebody would do this to a child, what would they do to a couple they saw showing affection?

gay or not, 4 years old, the boy deserves a life!!! The boy probably didn't even know the meaning of gay, the only reason I knew the meaning of gay at that age was because I had dysfunctional parents who kept drumming into me that I was gay, none of my godchildren knew what gay was until they were in double figures age wise.
