The married father of six is an ordained pastor of Church of God in Christ and founder of Harvest Christian Fellowship. He and his family believe he has the right to worship at home on his private property.

"The only people who came to our home were family and friends," Salman said in a video posted online before he reported to jail this week. "Our home was not open to the public; it was private."

His wife, Suzanne Salman, said her husband's constitutional rights have been violated.

"Christians deserve the right to gather at their homes privately just like every other American has the right to gather for their reasons," she told FoxNews.com.

There would be as many as 80 people there in his Bible study. I'm sorry that is not a Bible study that is a worship service. Imagine all the cars parked in the streets and imagine you live on that street. He was not jailed because of the Bible study he was jailed because of the number of people. He needs to find a separate building if there are going to be that many people attending. This was a zoning code violation and my guess is it was also a fire hazard.

He had 80 people on his 4-ACRE PROPERTY which is FAR from a fire hazard. You conveniently left out the fact that they were on 4 ACRES. You progressives have a tendency to leave facts out especially when it serves your purpose.

This is blatant attack on Christians.

He had 80 people in a building, with pews he installed... on his 4 acre land... for prayer group... of 80 people.

    *sigh*

Ok, didn't read the whole thing, once again. I didn't realize it wasn't in a neighborhood. I was just imagining what it would be like to try and get into my house if he lived on my street. If he has his own 4 acres then he should be able to do pretty much what he wants to do and if he wants 80 people over he can certainly have them. This was just another case of me reading the first paragraph and not digging deeper to discover the truth. My bad.

This is ridiculous and PROVES that there is an all out offensive AGAINST Faith in this country. Despicable. They'll be in for a real rude awakening if they attack me and mine over our faith.

So by arresting people that break the law...... you're essentially attacking religion? Hahahaha.....
Actually I wish their was a war on religion. Maybe we could finally have some intelligence in this country with it gone.

No one broke the law. And be careful what you wish for. If there was an actual war. People like you would easily be destroyed. You THINK you're really smart. When in all actuality, you're a sheep. A moldable pawn. You hate religion because of something that happened to you (forced to go to religious private school, being forced to go to church) or because of people you disliked that closely associated with religion. Your point of view was crafted by the things that your streamlined psyche decided to dislike. I used to hate religion when I was younger. Then I stopped and examined why I hated it so much. Then I embarked on almost a decade of theological, philosophical and scientific study. I was not content to accept what supposed educators (indoctrinators) want us to believe. You think that science explains everything. When in truth, what you think you know as "scientific fact" is mostly ALL THEORETICAL. That's why it's called "Darwinian Theory" and NOT "Darwin's Law". What they won't teach you in school is that Mathematics DESTROYS Darwinian Theory. Math is the only absolute thing that the scientific community CAN in fact fall back on and it disproves Darwinian Theory on MANY different levels. Do some personal research and stop GOING ALONG WITH the crap you're handed. It's not easy, but it's a hell of a lot better than falling in line and doing what "THEY" want you to.

He violated building and zoning codes. Yes, in many places they will take you to jail for that. Blatant violation of freedoms If you ask me. It'd be about like if you wanted to have any other type of gathering at your home, house party, bridal shower, etc. The only difference is the regularity of it.

I do not agree with liberals and debate with them often on this site, but what you say is sure not my experience. Some atheists do actively work against Christianity and display emotions such as hatred against them. I think this statement is more accurate than your sweeping generalizations.

Every atheist I have ever met cannot explain why they are an atheist without extremely cynical and condescending overtones. There is a definite psychology built from early experiences in the common atheist. Look at their philosophy's champions: Dick Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens. Snivelly, condescending cynics. Heck, Dawkins has a permanently disgruntled look on his face.

Agreed. These people have rationalism as their religion. Rationalism is the complete denial of the spiritual realm. I don't like to use the H word, but these extreme rationalists really do seem to spit the fire of hatred. I can't understand why they have so much of this against those who practice and promote spirituality. This would be like blind people hating those who say they can see, claiming there is no such thing as sight, and if you think you can see you are deluded and live in a fantasy.

Indeed. From my intense study, I find that most atheists spend a majority of their time and energy constantly convincing themselves and everyone around them that there is NO higher power or "Ultimate Consequence", also patting each other on the back for being so "smart" and "liberated". It's a very egocentric practice and relative to remnants of youthful rebellion. "Nobody's gonna tell ME what to do! I am the great, all knowing source of MY power and talents!" As I previously stated, most times they come from backgrounds of overly strict religious practice or have been persecuted by religious folk. Essentially, early experiences have driven them to a misplaced disdain for God. When really, they should hold the disdain for PEOPLE and their oppressive behaviors.

Well, I don't believe many things that Christianity teaches, but neither do I have disdain for those who do. However, I do have disdain for those who promote intolerance and hatred.

And you are so right about this egocentric attitude. These Humanists want to believe that they are the greatest thing in the universe, the only ones capable of understanding it.

I laugh at this. We know NOTHING compared to all there is to know. In many thousands of years we will still be revealing layers of complexity; we will still have only scratched the surface of All That Is.
  • ģhøṡτ øώl Kevin1111 2012/08/07 15:33:01

Yes! I personally believe that the purpose of life is to accept that there are things that one cannot understand, and to strive to be the best person you can be and thus go on to meet God and have him reveal all that we could not grasp here. I believe proof of this is the fact that we do not use our brain in it's entire capacity. Also, notice how we just can't seem to get "science" right. They're constantly debunking theories and discovering new ones as time presses on. Here's one of my favorite quotes by one of my favorite historical figures:

"Truth in science can be defined as the working hypothesis best suited to open the way to the next better one." -- Konrad Lorenz

We will never get science 'right' -- this is the very nature of it. We only have our current 'best guess.' But this fact itself should be humbling to those Humanists, because of this, 'everything you think you know is wrong.'

My purpose in life is 'to learn and grow stronger and wiser and to leave the Earth a better place than I found it'

Awesome, my friend. Those things play a strong role in my days and decisions, as well. If we were face to face I'd gladly shake your hand.

If you're not familiar with Konrad Lorenz, I graciously recommend his book "King Solomon's Ring". Lorenz was a naturalist and a biologist. He dedicated his life to the appreciation and study of the Animal Kingdom, of which I share a great fascination and love for.

The word theory is science does not mean the same thing as the word theory in everyday speech. It does not mean a guess but a detailed description that can be used to make predictions.

More bending of definitions. You're on your way to being a professional Logical Positivist. Read back what you just said. Theories ARE predictions. And there is a DISTINCT difference between LAWS and THEORIES. Period.
