Clive Palmer, an Australian billionaire mining mogul, has announced that he wants to not only build an exact replica of the Titanic, but also wants to reenact the ship's ill-fated maiden journey. Er, without that whole sinking part. He's skipping that. And okay, it's not going to be an exact replica. It's going to be fitted with fancy technology to ensure a safe trip. Though we imagine passengers might still feel some anxiety on day four.

When asked if he thought the so-called Titanic II was sinkable -- a sly reference to the original's misnomer -- Palmer replied, "Of course it will sink if you put a hole in it ... It will be designed as a modern ship with all the technology to ensure that doesn't happen. But, of course, if you are superstitious like you are, you never know what could happen." Aside from "state-of-the-art engineering" and a diesel engine, the ship will be as close to the original as possible. Would you be nervous if you had a chance to be on-board a replica Titanic ship?

Unless you invited all 525 members of congress and actually sank it. Then they could get a taste of what they are doing to this country. Otherwise, its a waste of money... We all know what happens ad nauseum.

I went to an exhibit in Las Vegas of relics from the ship. When we bought our tickets we were given a "boarding pass" of a person who had been aboard the ship. You went through the whole exhibit before you found out if your person survived or not. My person survived. She was in second class. My husbands person didn't. He was in steerage.

A few years ago, I went to the same exhibit when it was in St. Louis and it was really interesting. I went with my girlfriend (at the time) and we got a married couple. Unfortunately, we had only been dating for a month, so it was a little comical and awkward. heh heh.

The "ice room" at the end was really eye-opening, though. Brought a new level of reality to the event in my mind.

Why should I be nervous?

Boats sink all the time, cars crash all the time, and I'm fine with both boats and cars. Nothing to be nervous about. A boat's a boat and this one is probably going to be made better than the first.

Or maybe I did mean no. It doesn't sound cheap.

However, if they play that fu#%&*+ movie all the time, I will demand a refund. I have never watched it, but I will not be suckered into it during a cruise that no doubt will cost a very pretty penny.

Depends on the price of course..would not spend multiples of what I could get on say Holland, or Norwegian cruise lines
a cruiseon a modern well fitted ship is a cruise on a modern well fitted ship

oh hell no. call me superstitious but i wouldnt step foot on that boat. 1,513 people died on the titanic. leave it alone man. have some respect.
