Clive Palmer, an Australian billionaire mining mogul, has announced that he wants to not only build an exact replica of the Titanic, but also wants to reenact the ship's ill-fated maiden journey. Er, without that whole sinking part. He's skipping that. And okay, it's not going to be an exact replica. It's going to be fitted with fancy technology to ensure a safe trip. Though we imagine passengers might still feel some anxiety on day four.

When asked if he thought the so-called Titanic II was sinkable -- a sly reference to the original's misnomer -- Palmer replied, "Of course it will sink if you put a hole in it ... It will be designed as a modern ship with all the technology to ensure that doesn't happen. But, of course, if you are superstitious like you are, you never know what could happen." Aside from "state-of-the-art engineering" and a diesel engine, the ship will be as close to the original as possible. Would you be nervous if you had a chance to be on-board a replica Titanic ship?

Unless you invited all 525 members of congress and actually sank it. Then they could get a taste of what they are doing to this country. Otherwise, its a waste of money... We all know what happens ad nauseum.

One of the worse questions here. Yes I would. I'm going on an 8 day cruise this July. Why not another especially if free. Superstition is for kids.

I'm not interested in reenacting the sinking experience. I know it's just a game, but I'd still be anxious and I don't want that interfering with a cruise. I'd love to just go on for a cruise without the reenactment though!

Its not a reenactment if the ship dosen't sink and a majority of the people are killed. So no, its not authentic enough for me and I can't take people I hate.

But only as his guest. I'm not paying to re-enact a disaster. They need need a "safety ship" to follow. They also better build those bulkheads all the way to the top to make it "unsinkable".

If the price would allow it yes. It is reasonable to assume however that for quite some time after this ship sails it will be a rich persons ship. No question that he will want to recover his investment and it will indeed be very expensive.

My thing is, they said reenacting the voyage. Are you reenacting the entire voyage? even the sinking? Heck to the no. I already seen the movie. I know how it ended. Don't need to reenact that for me with ME onboard. I will just watch for the Titanic 2 staring Justin Bieber and Kat Dennings or somebody.

Titanic 2 will be based off this one, which will still sink, hopefully Jbeibs will already be on that ship when its going down and no one saves him.

well, you can't blame the sinking of the Britannica on an iceburg!! LOL!! The program I saw last month talked about Titanic's sister ship that went on to sail the oceans for decades with no problems, so it must be the Olympic they were refering to. Even though they were built on similar lines and metals used. They like to blame the metal as part of the reason Titanic sank, but the other ships built sailed with it too.
So you wouldn't sail on a new Titanic???

ummm? i never blamed it on an iceberg. I blamed it on a mine. but the Titanic had two sister ships, one of which was almost as ill-fated.

also i never went into anything about why the titanic sank.
