Man hires another man to kidnap pregnant woman who refused to have abortion and set her on fire then shot her twice to get rid of her and his baby. Is this but one more proof that women often come under vicious pressure from men to kill their babies?

More and more it seems that women often are subjected to considerable pressure from men trying to avoid paying child support, etc. to kill their kids before birth. See this latest example of what I mean:
http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/28/pregnant-woman-kidnapped-s...

I tire of hearing men saying they support a woman's "choice" to kill their babies, when in fact many of those men themselves want those babies killed, sometimes when it's not what the mother wants to do.

Although I'm not into religion, the fact that this woman and her child managed to survive this terrible ordeal conjures up images of a guardian angel sent by the Lord to save her and the child, perhaps because that child is destined for a great purpose in life.

I've known more than one woman whose 'baby daddy' (sometimes hubby even) has beaten them, punched them repeatedly in the stomach, thrown them down stairs, etc., to cause a miscarriage. it's been going on since I was a kid, and I'm sure for a LONG time before that.

Probably a lot more often than you suspected. Not only boyfriends, but also cheating husbands who make another woman pregnant or fathers who don't want to support a teen daughter's baby, and daughters older than teens as well. In today's economy, it is getting more and more common for adult kids to still live home with mom and pop.

this is an intense question, one that really is less black and white and more of alot of gray areas in between. If the women purposely got pregnant (pretended to take birth control for example) simply to get pregnant, the guy is going to be (rightfully so) upset. As a 50% contributor to the DNA, I feel the guy should have a say in this. If the woman refuses to take his side in consideration, the woman should be required to sign a legal document stating she won't expect child support unless he is actively involved in the childs' life. (or something like that) so that situations like this don't happen. It our body, and we should have the final say but WE as women also need to realize the consequences of our actions as well.

I was pressured in the opposite way. I felt trapped, and believed I had no other options. That is a very lonely feeling, and no one should have to experience it.

But only "having a say" voicing his [wrong] opinion. Not forcing it upon her and even taking extreme measures like in this case.

Not really sure what you mean. This is (like you said) an extreme case. No matter what we do as a society, there will always be exceptions and extreme cases. Mothers drown their children on purpose. That is an extreme case, does it mean all mothers are dangerous? no. Just because this man took a bad situation and made a very violent choice (the other man involved had a responsibility to say no, to call the cops. He didn't. That choice is also on him) doesn't mean every disagreement about having a child versus not having a child ends this way.

A person can only be held accountable for situations they get themselves in. The only actions you can control are yours. There are many things that happen in life that you will find no justification for. The issue is too many believe in the "wrong place, wrong time" excuse. Very rarely are things of this nature unfortunate circumstances that just happen.

Yes, I know of women who were faced with incredible pressure to abort their babies. To refuse was to risk threats of violence, abandonment or false allegations of being an unfit parent. I know of an 18 year old at this very moment who is in hiding from her ex who said he will kill her if she doesn't have an abortion. She refused and is in her 7th month. He says if he gets the chance he will kill her and her baby. She has had him brought up on charges for communicating a threat but as expected he is out on bail and roaming around.

This is what happens when as a society we denigrate the safety of life in the womb.

Stupid choices, and stupid logic. I've known women who had abortions without even telling the man that they were pregnant to begin with.

So what's that got to do with the price of oranges, or the topic question? Are you implying irrationally that, because some women have abortions without telling men, that somehow rules out the other scenarios where men pressure women to have abortions who actually don't want to lose their babies? DUH!
  • OnlyOne... tncdel 2012/05/29 14:11:57

Did read the first words in my post "Stupid choices". Obviously there are scenarios of all types. But you cannot blame everything on men or women. However, women have free will, they don't have to give in to pressure. I also know women who decided to have their babies despite a douche bag boyfriend who wanted them to abort it.
But you cannot simply generalize it. Thanks for your immaturity though.

If someone sticks you up and shoots you dead, that's a wrong "choice" as well. Snuffing out human live, except accidentally in some cases, is always a "choice."

Seeing yourself in others is called "transference." :)~

When I said "stupid choices" I was referring to the two answers we had to choose from. The OP is an idiot and didn't make an answer in between the two extreme yes/no answers. I don't even know what you are referring to. If a woman chooses to get an abortion, even if a man pressures her to do so, she is still the one to blame.

If I tell you. Hey, you should rob that bank over there! Then you do it and get arrested, who is at fault? You, because you chose to rob a bank.
Not enough people want to fess up to their own mistakes these days.
I am pro-life, I don't believe abortion is right, and I believe women should be strong and stand up for what is right. However it is rarely a man's fault that a woman gets an abortion, many women just don't feel ready for a baby or don't want to have a baby with the man who got them pregnant.

I tire of any savage animal that wants to snuff out life as though they were simply flushing a turd down the toilet but yes it is one more pressure that more moral women face-- especially if they might be going out with a murderous sociopath.
