Man charged with slapping loud kid in Kent theater

(▪‿▪)DoctorWhoGuru(▪‿▪) 2012/05/22 20:30:12

An Auburn man accused of smacking a loud 10-year-old at a Kent movie theater could face months in jail if convicted of the felony assault charge now filed against him.

King County prosecutors contend 21-year-old Yong Hyun Kim knocked out one of the boy’s teeth after the child and several other youths refused to quiet down and stop throwing popcorn in April.

What!! You mean you pay someone and do that? How much? Can you buy more than one ticket if they're truly obnoxious?

Although children like that could be annoying. Slapping hard enough to knock a tooth out is a bit too drastic

If parents actually taught their own children how to behave in public maybe others wouldn't have to do it for them. Slapping someone elses child seriously crossed my mind just this last weekend at the grocery store! Maybe if that 10 year olds mom or dad had spanked his butt as a child for acting up, he wouldn't be doing this kinda crap at 10!!

lol good. Maybe next time the kids will learn to shut the hell up. Shessh, this is a reason why kids get away with harassing people, and being so loud, because they have the law on their side.

Should've called the police, they've been known to taze unruly children.
And they seldom ever go to jail.

If he knocked the teeth out of any adult that had been with the kid...okay, but this?

Those kids are jackasses and were too immature for the movie, but you can't take out the teeth of every stupid youth.

Things just do not work if you smack the child and then leave the theatre, you have to sit down and enjoy the movie, and then maybe get up and knock the child's father to the ground and piss on him after the fact for a little dramatic effect... WTF? what is the world coming to?

Wow. Now, the kids should not have been acting like that, but the man should have gone to management. I am not sure what a 10 year old boy was doing at a theatre without his parents or a responsible adult... It's not something I would ever have done - allowing my pre-teen child to go to the movies without me. Seems to me like there were a lot of irresponsible people involved here.

While I agree the kids were being EXTREMELY disrespectful. This guy had absolutely NO RIGHT to hit a child. Had it been my child, after he received an ass beating of his own, I would have pressed charges. He will likely be looking at a lawsuit from the kids family as well.

He could and should have had management escort them out and tell them not to come back. Ever

Yes, he needs to go to jail. You dont hit a kid like that. He shouldnt have smacked him on his butt or took him out of the theatre.

That's a no-no, Yong Hyun Kim. You crossed the boundaries. A clear case of assault. You are lucky that it's the justice system and not the kid's father that is dealing with this. After you serve your jail time I suspect there will be a major lawsuit to deal with, too. You bloody idiot..

Charged?! Guy deserves a medal!! I know everytime I slap someones kid for them, I just look at them very seriously. Like "Yep! that just happened. Your move." I've been told to never do that again. I"ve been given thanks. But I've never had someone go & get the law involved. That is just sad.

If you had ever laid a finger on either of my children, you would have rued the day you were born. I am a responsible parent and would never have allowed my young children to be out alone like that. However, my younger daughter is autistic and would frequently just lose it due to some overstimulation. We would remove her from whatever situation as quickly as possible, which sometimes was not as quickly as I would have liked. If you had touched her, I would have had your balls stuffed in your mouth and made you chew. You don't touch someone else's child, period.

why didn't the manager or any other employee's do their job and take care of it before another patron did? Most likley for the same reason the kids were acting that way in the first place, no one will discipline children anymore!

Ture peope are scared to discipline their kids now a days. But now this poor guy may have to do jail time. And the parents were no where in sight that just messed up. I am all for community parenting. That is the way I was raised. If I did something wrong I would not only get my butt busted by my neghbor but my grandparents as well. My kids are about the same age but they are not allowed to go to movies without myself or my husband. Not that we dont trust them, but because they are still to young.
