Louisiana Republican Supports State Funds For Religious Schools, As Long As They’re Not Islamic
Another example of conservative religious bigotry.
Louisiana Republicans supported Gov. Bobby Jindal’s overhaul of the state’s education system, which includes a voucher program that allows state funds to be used to send students to religiously-affiliated schools — until they began to realize that Islamic schools could also be among the institutions supported by taxpayer funds.
Rep. Valarie Hodges (R-Watson) voted for Jindal’s bill in the Louisiana House, but has since withdrawn her support for the measure because she now realizes that it “unfortunately” applies more broadly:
HODGES: I actually support funding for teaching the fundamentals of America’s Founding Fathers’ religion, which is Christianity, in public schools or private schools…Unfortunately it will not be limited to the Founders’ religion. We need to insure that it does not open the door to fund radical Islam schools. There are a thousand Muslim schools that have sprung up recently. I do not support using public funds for teaching Islam anywhere here in Louisiana.

Veritas Lux Mea
First and foremost our founding fathers were NOT all of the same religious faith. This is patently untrue. The early presidents and patriots were generally Deists or Unitarians, believing in some form of impersonal Providence but rejecting the divinity of Jesus and the absurdities of the Old and New testaments.
She needs to brush up on our history. Also she is going to get an ass kicking for discrimination on her part if they even try to stop funds to schools that teach Islam. Fact is Islamic people have hated those terrorist for staining the religion on 9/11.
The ignorant have believed that ALL Muslims are taught to hate the Western countries for not following the true religion of Islam. Only the radicals have made this noise.
As soon as, say, a private religious institution starts taking government vouchers, it becomes *dependent* on those vouchers to stay afloat. Then, the government steps in and says you can't preach about X, Y and Z so long as you take government vouchers. BOOM! The school has to choose between closing up or getting with the public school program.
more and more, i am finding just about ALL religious institutions to be problematic, given that they are all based on belief in things that can be shown to exist only in people's imaginations, and that religion is so often used to disadvantage people who don't have the same beliefs.
NO GOVERNMENT SUPPORT WITH MY TAX DOLLARS FOR ANY RELIGION! NONE!
and BTW: i found an article there about George W. Bush which praises him for some of his current activities ... and i posted my own question:

You're not the first conservative to reject facts, science and reason.
