Los Angeles Puts Up $1 Million Reward for Dorner: Too Much, Not Enough, or Just Right?

During a press conference at LAPD Headquarters on Sunday, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced a $1 million reward for information leading to the capture of suspected murderer Christopher Dorner. According to Police Chief Charlie Beck, this is the largest sum ever offered in a criminal investigation in Southern California. The reward was raised from private donations, police unions, businesses, and city and county governments.

The reward was announced as the hunt for ex-cop Chris Dorner dragged on for a fourth day. Last week Dorner posted a multi-page manifesto on his Facebook page claiming he was wrongly terminated from the LAPD in September 2008 and that he planned to get revenge by waging “unconventional and asymmetrical warfare” against his enemies. Dorner is suspected of killing three and wounding two others.

The LAPD has also announced that they intend to reopen the investigation into Dorner’s firing. According to Beck, this is not an effort “to appease a murderer” but rather to reassure the public that the LAPD is “transparent and fair” in all that it does.

He was bound to be caught--never to escape, so no reward necessary.

This story is so incomplete. This guy kills a mix couple, give me a break and then goes on this killing spree.Hes friendly one minute and then this viscious pyscho-path the next minute.I was taught long ago believe only what you see and half of what you hear.Just like Bin laden.Gaddafi,Hussein,Biggie, and Tupac were all killed. The facts are there in plain view, but this story like Bin Laden's story. When the facts dont add up.Its a cover up.Some Americans are just plain stupid to believe everything they hear on a controlled news media.

It's amazing how they feel they have the right to put OUR tax money up for reward when the fugitive threatens THEM.

If they're not worried to let all be learned. Actions by authorities, are getting to seem more & more puzzling IMHO, everyday!

If this was a Bruce Willis Die Hard movie, we'd be rooting for him, to get to the right people. Who would ensure truth & justice. No matter what THAT ultimately is!!

I wonder how much it will cost to field all the calls and loons rushing into police stations yelling "I just saw him! Where's my money?"

I have the feeling that if an anonymous person did EXACTLY what Dorner did any reward would be much smaller, and the manhunt wouldn't involve strafing random vehicles.

He is an all american hero. He is way off on his gun control ideas. Its just sad that ppl have to die before a real investigation into the most corrupt police in the us takes place. If this changes policies and removes some from power he would have saved many more than die.

Now ordinary citizens without a badge are going to want to get in on the man hunt, which can only lead to more innocent people being injure or fatally killed; just look at the case of mistaken identity that the so called professionals have already made.

it is one of those funny things.. had they done the right thing to begin with. There would likely be no reason to even be looking for the man.. Now that he has killed to bring his story to the world.. the cops are going nuts... Wondering if crime in LA is going up while all that good cop equipment is being redeployed along with the cops who should be on patrol. BUT WAIT its yours for this special one time offering.. Yes folks.. When it is all done. the hours for those on the streets will be cut back so you can run with your buddies and do flash mobs with a 3 hour response time by the three cops who are still on patrol

What is it about this Dormer that justifies shooting up people and vehicles who bear no semblence the accused. If this were a Hollywood production, you'd swear LAPD were the bad guys...

The Los Angeles taxpayers better get ready to shell out their hard earned buks to pay for trigger happy cops that shot up one guys truck and nearly killed 2 women out trying to make an honest living . But the cops dont care , it is you the taxpayers money and none of theirs , they still get their paycheks and benifits despite what they do to innocent working citizens.

What makes anyone think put money on anyone head is going to make a difference on getting this guy...........It will make things a lot worse and the way I mean that mow you people are putting money out like they did BACK IN THE DAY of Jesse James, Billy the kid, so and so on.
So now theirs going to be people getting killed that didn't have a damm thing to do with any of this yet, now it is making those under taker so called to have a reason in their sick minds to go out...., all there thinking about is all that the money these MORONS put out to the public to think about.
And say when they did kill someone they he looked a lot like that guy, I'm so sorry...........But it was just someone walking down the street that might of had a family, just wait and see what happens on this stupid branch of signs that are getting out there !!!
The Law Enforcement people that put this money out to the public, they just do not think, if they can think at all.
