Listening to Talk Radio at work can get one fired !!!

My employer had employees watch a video on harassment. I figured it would cover the basics of sexual harassment or anything considered insulting to others about race, religion, or gender etc...It also includes politics and went on to mention Talk Radio. If you listened to Limbaugh or a host of other conservative or even progressive talk stations, if someone within earshot disliked what they are hearing you could be written up or reprimanded. It falls into the same catagory as listening music with vulgar language. Failure to change or turn off the radio could be grounds for termination. Are we getting too politically correct or are we becoming way to sensitive?

Fired may be strong. But, it's a good idea to avoid politics at work. Nothing good can come of it.

When you are at work you should be focused on work. Talk radio has no place there. It has nothing to do with political correctness.

i wouldn't allow radio programs at my workplace if i were an employer. people are supposed to be working at work, not listening to radio programs. and i would want to be considerate of others who may not want to have to listen to strong opinions and what many might consider very ignorant and hate filled opinions (Rush) while they are TRYING TO FOCUS on their work..why does one person's desire trump the whole group's needs?

In my opinion, I don't care for the radio on while working. The radio will distract one's attention away at certain times. An employee can listen to the radio on his/her break time or lunch hour.

I'd say so. I wonder if that means I can complain if someone was playing an adult contemporary station. It doesn't offend me, it just annoys me.
