Liberals claim they are more compassionate than Conservatives. Yet red states give more to charities than do blue states. Are Libs more "generous" with other people's money than they are with their own?

Besides much of the charity in red states is going to churches, so I don't count it as compassionate,

If liberals cared about being charitable, there would be fewer poor people in America. They have thrown our money at failed schools, failed welfare programs and failed work projects for years. Liberals have created generations of people that remain poor and dependent on the government.

The report was based on IRS data taken from those who earned at least $50,000 in 2008. I gave to charity but none of it was reported to the IRS, as there are funky criteria and rules for that. Also, giving to charity isn't measured only in funds. Time and personal effort can be given as well. And how much of each donated dollar goes to overhead and how much goes to those in need? Is it possible that I can make sure more goes to those in need but donate less in total dollars? The answer is yes.

The study and the article aren't the big picture and I suspect are very skewed.

1. Even if the statistic is true, a red state is not 100% conservative, and a blue state is not 100% blue. There's no telling who is contributing more.
2. Charitable giving is far from the only measure of compassion or generosity.
