Lest not we forget our upbringing. We argue and bicker on a daily basis
here on Sodahead, pointing fingers at the most absurd of points and
making valid claims from each side of the pulpit. I think at times that
we forget that we are all brothers, fighting for the same thing, we will
find that most of us have more things in common than one might presume.

Now
alot of people here like to point at today's soldiers and congratulate
them on their hard journey in fighting terrorism, whether you agree or
not is up to you, however they are still human beings that are at risk
of death, fighting for an ideology that has lasted more than 235 years.

How
amazing is it that over 235 years ago a small group of like minded
individuals were able to put all their barking and petty arguments aside
to liberate themselves from one the most powerful nation of the time.
group minded individuals barking petty arguments liberate powerful nation nbspnbsp

Coming
out of this followed a bloody and brutal war, which they fought, on the
brink of defeat at every corner they overshadowed they opponent, were
able to send the more elite well trained British back from whence they
came. All people large or small, male or female during these times
contributed to making America. With the blood of our forefathers they

these men that will remain legends to even our grandchildren. Forged
one of the greatest documents that man has ever conceived. A document
that gives freedom, that allows for equality, that lets people choose to
live their lives, a document that proclaims the individual as the
master of his destiny. This document written by men forged by blood, and
won by determination, steadfastness, as well as stubbornness. These men
for the first time in human history gave power to the people. No more
kings, no more tyrants, no more rulers to tell us what to do, let
freedom ring, let freedom yell, let freedom lead us to prosperity, let
it yield us in the right direction. Let it be known that all men are
created equal, let it be known that no man, no king has a right to you,
your property, to your well being. Let Justice be blind so that she may
not be tempted to err in her way, let the people choose what they wish,

Great post. Let´s unite on the real problems.

    Lincoln

"We may congratulate ourselves that this cruel war [civil war] is nearing its end. It has cost a vast amount of treasure and blood ... It has indeed been a trying hour for the Republic; but I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war. God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless."
    President Abraham Lincoln

This is a worthy link and a good presentation!

I, also, believe we have more in common than we know. Both the right and the left does care about America; We just have different ideas about how to reach our goals. Although most of us find compromise difficult, it is necessary.

Both sides have stood by and allowed career politicians and special interest groups to become entrenched in our political mechanisms to the point that the common working stiff is now just used and not valued. I used the word "stiff," because I am not sure we are now seen as humans or just a place to get money from. Lest I be misunderstood, I do not advocate "income redistribution," but do believe the citizens should be more valued.

I wish we could change our political system into a system that would attract people who desired to actually serve the people and not themselves.

Am I pipe dreaming to believe we really could achieve this?
