Liberal Media Fabricate Another ‘Scandal’

JT For Political Reform 2012/07/30 21:02:41
In the media world, saying you believe in something is tantamount to
stating unequivocally that you despise anything and anyone that
disagrees with you. If you’re pro-life, then you must hate women. If you’re a fiscal conservative, then you must hate seniors
because you want to get rid of their social security. If you believe in
traditional marriage, then you’re a homophobe. Chick-fil-A president
Dan Cathy has been taking heat from the left for some comments he made
presumably about homosexual marriage. The thing is, he didn’t actually
say anything about homosexual marriage. Cathy only stated his beliefs
about traditional family and marriage. Leave it to the media to try to
make a story out of nothing.

The original interview that the media quote as being responsible for
all these attacks and boycotts by the left was given by Ken Coleman on
Ken’s radio show that aired on Father’s Day. The context of the infamous
quote by Mr. Cathy in which he states that our culture is “inviting
God’s judgment” wasn’t even about homosexual marriage. In fact, the
subject of homosexual marriage never even came up during the entire
interview. Ken’s question to Dan was regarding the growing problem of
“fatherlessness” in our society today.

Since the interview was given on Father’s Day, the emphasis was on fathers.
The radio host chose to feature Dan Cathy, a father of two and
prominent Christian businessman who has honored his own father and has
followed in his footsteps. Mr. Coleman simply asked Dan to comment on
our “fatherless” society and what could be done to solve the problem.
Dan elaborated on how emotionally detrimental it can be when the father
or mother is absent from the family and how fatherless children do not
get the benefit of the balance between both parents. He mentioned an
“essential, emotional DNA” that we get as a result of having a balanced
family.

Mr. Cathy supports traditional family values, he is a Christian and his company is founded upon Christian values. They donate money to support organizations involved in promoting those values. This has all long been common knowledge. Whether he explicity stated anything about gay marriage,or not, it was implicitly a part of that statement. There is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with how he operates his business. There is nothing wrong with him donating to organizations that uphold his values. Mr. Cathy has a right to his beliefs and to state his opinion. Simply believing as he does, does not make him a homophobe or a hater or a bigot.

Likewise, Mr. and Mrs. Bezos of Amazon, who donated in support of gay marriage in Washington state, have every right to do so. They have a right to their opinion as well. Just as we all do.

Does the media make a big deal out of these things? Yes. Do people on both sides of the aisle? Yes. Do these issues often get blown out of proportion? Yes!

Personally, I like to have this information, as I like to shop at businesses that share my values. If gays choose not to eat at Chick-fil-A because of Mr. Cathy's statement, fine, that is their right. Just as it is our right to support his business. Likewise with Amazon. Those who support the Bezos' donation are free to buy from Amazon, and those who do not support it need not give the company their patronage.

Making a mountain out of a mole hill? The end justifies the means. Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

Dan Cathy, the president and chief operating officer of Chick-fil-A, was invited to appear on the "The Ken Coleman Show," during when he revealed that those advocating for same-sex marriage will in turn bring "God's judgment" upon us.

"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about."

Cathy explains that the company that his father created and the one that he now runs is possible because of family and the support that families offer.

"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that … We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that," Cathy said.

Right. He wasn't talking about gay marriage at all. Nope. I mean, the fact that his company has given $2m to anti-gay groups is COMPLETELY irrelevant to all this.

This wasn't fabricating a scandal. This was reading between the lines, and it was obvious.

So if Walmart gave $2m to ACORN and talked about their support for voter's rights, you wouldn't attack Walmart, right?

Simply amazing. The conversation with the CEO of Chick-fil-A, never ever mentioned gay marriage, this was simply fabricated by the liberal media. The conversation was on fathers day, and was talking about how emotionally detrimental it can be when a father or mother is absent from the family and how fatherless children do not get the benefit of the balance between both parents.

Typical liberal lies once again. These people have no conscience.

So if Chris Rock talked about how he loves minority community groups and gave $2m to the New Black Panthers, would you say that saying he supports militant black groups is a lie?

    It's called a comparison.

Chick-Fil-A has donated approx $2m a year to anti-gay groups. Is that irrelevant when talking about about his support for traditional marriage?
