LETTER: If unions did not exist in America

Gยเtคг Plคאєг ( JFK Democrat ) 2012/03/02 02:22:42
I didn't write this. but it is 100% accurate

This situation is beginning to smell like “Ronald Wilson Reagan” back in
the 80s. Let’s blame government employees and unions for everything
that is happening America.

People complain that all government
employees got their jobs due to nepotism, friends and knowing people in
high positions. That sounds like Ford, ITT and Wal-Mart because in
America that is called networking.

As Americans we must
understand that if unions did not exist that our standard of living
would be completely different than it is today. We would be living in
“shanty town” and buying groceries in the company store.

If we
wish to complain let’s yell at Wall Street, K-Street and the wealthy
that feel outsourcing, free trade and union busting is better for our
economy. Not all of us can be a lawyer or doctor, some of us operate
equipment, pave roads or just dig a good ditch. Do not blame Americans
because of government policies that don’t work. Blame government for
putting people out of work.
You!

If we didn't have unions, pay would be very low, and no benefits. And there would definitely not be pensions.

There is good and bad in every organizaton, but unions have helped America.

    Good post, GP!

If unions did not exist in America the amount of disabled persons, who were injured on the job & who have no insurance, would be higher.

If unions did not exist organised crime would have no choice but to go into honest businesses like drugs, prostitution and gambling.

You're the one who seems to believe that unions are not mired in cronyism, kickbacks, graft, nepotism and intimidation.

so then the article is ignorant because it says without unions the world would be a different place today......or is it something else because the last I checked unions have in fact changed the world and politics as we knew it as we went from the 19th into the 20th century.

    People complain that all government
employees got their jobs due to nepotism, friends and knowing people in
high positions. That sounds like Ford, ITT and Wal-Mart because in
America that is called networking. [Ignorant, regarding Ford, ITT, Wal-Mart and most any other business. Funny libs always believe everyone behaves like they do.]

    As Americans we must
understand that if unions did not exist that our standard of living
would be completely different than it is today. We would be living in
“shanty town” and buying groceries in the company store. [Ignorant, as if most Americans were ever members of a union. Just simple stereotyping and naive.]

    If we
wish to complain let’s yell at Wall Street, K-Street and the wealthy
that feel outsourcing, free trade and union busting is better for our

because of government policies that don’t work. Blame government for
putting people out of work. [Ignorant: unions are why so many manufacturing jobs left the country, and yes I do blame government and unions (ie the one percenters) for putting people out of work.

Who's pay would be low? The vast majority of people are not in unions and do just fine without one.

thats because of unions, if the employer does not treat them good then people can still run down the street and join a Union.

That's inspite of unions. Some people act like unions are the messiah, I beg to differ.

That's because unions fought for higher pay and better benefits and other companies know they have to go along with it or they wouldn't be able to keep people.

Thats what people understand. It does not matter how big a Union is, but as long as they are around it keeps the ones that aren't honest. A small Union can get really big again if non-union companies abush their employees.

Have you ever been in a union? I think not, so you have no first hand knowledge of what you speak.

Sounds like you are for the Wall Street richies of this world and don't care about the ordinary people.
  • RobJohn **Starz... 2012/03/04 22:43:17

That's right, I have never been and never will be in a union. I have plenty of friends and family who have been or are in unions, so don't try the first hand gimmick, it won't work.

What I am for is freedom, something unions know nothing about.
