Lets just say it: The Republicans are the problem.

We have been studying Washington politics and Congress for more than
40 years, and never have we seen them this dysfunctional. In our past
writings, we have criticized both parties when we believed it was
warranted. Today, however, we have no choice but to acknowledge that the
core of the problem lies with the Republican Party.

The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.

When
one party moves this far from the mainstream, it makes it nearly
impossible for the political system to deal constructively with the
country’s challenges.

Republicans need to change. I predict that the Republican party will become progressively more libertarian in the future, because they'll start to lose support based on their (rather intense) focus on social issues.

Nothing like the TRUTH to rattle the cages of a bunch of willfully ignorant, wantonly stupid, hateful, spiteful, hyper-partisan morons. Exactly what I said the night President Obama was elected happened. Who knew they'd pick the night of President Obama's inauguration to launch their diabolical plan. Keep in mind President Obama took over in a month where conservative policies had the country bleeding 750,000 jobs in a single month. As I and many predicted and said, they planned to never work with him no matter what! Even to the point of rejecting their own ideas. That's just f*cking pathetic and sad.

But Mitch McConnell said it best and didn't even hide it.... Damn high unemployment, damn record outsourcing, damn record foreclosures, damn failing education, damn widening income disparity, damn people having to live in the back of semis, in vehicles, and in alleys, damn the economy, damn America! "Their single most important goal is making Barack Obama a one term President". Yet still a bunch of moronic, podunk, f*cktards against their own interest out of sheer hate will still vote for these evil power hungry dollar whores. Unbelievable!

It is the actions of liberals and inaction of conservatives that are causing the problems the country is facing. And you liberals really need to learn to take responsibility for your actions instead of blaming others.

Record number of filibusters is a good place to start in showing that Republicans are unwilling to work. When President Obama was drawing up the budgets he STARTED with almost everything the Republicans wanted and they still said NO. The Health Care plan was the Republicans idea from the early 90's and they still said no.

Some facts you may not know:

The only three presidents who have shrunk the size of the federal government in the last 40 years were named Carter, Clinton and Obama. The only two president in the last 40 years to actually reduce spending year over year in the last 40 years were Carter and Obama. In the last 40 years, real wages have only increased once, under Clinton.

I'm guess the Democrats are willing to take credit for that. How about the Republicans, are they willing to take credit for increasing the size of government and spending like drunken sailors?
  • MorbidC... Kern 2012/05/03 17:17:48 (edited)
    MorbidCynic
You've got it all backwards, it is mostly liberals who have made government bigger, not conservatives. And carter and obama actually increased spending (especially obama) and increased the size of federal government (especially obama). And clinton was more liberal socially than fiscally, also for a while during his presidency republicans had a majority in the house and senate.

Three PLUS years into Democrat control of Senate and the Presidency.... NO BUDGET!

let's just say it--Obama is a failure as president in terms of economic. For example, I am totally focused on myself since I am both homeless and unemployed as well as way behind on ALL my student loans repayments for the last 2 years and I am 47 years old. Obama has ruined my life and the country,

They are part of the problem just as the Democrats are but they are not THE problem. What a stupid assumption to make. Here is a reminder for you short attention span types. The Democrats ruled Congress for decades and grew the federal government gradually into the monster it has become. Back then it was more sustainable than it is now but now the world is far more competitive and "smaller" and the American government has more difficulty fitting into the faster changing world.

The Republicans have no qualms about America being the world's police force and ignoring the nuts and bolts problems of society. Just throw more money at this war and lets start another. Democrats cannot lose their insatiable desire to micromanage and drag everyone down to the lowest common denominator through taxation and class warfare. Lets create a universal healthcare law and worry about understanding how to pay for it or how it will work later on. Oh and lets penalize those who work hard and have earned money from that.

Democrats were more conservative than they are now. Both parties were more reasonable and representative of there stand on issues. There are growing factions in each that are becoming more extreme. The goal for most politicians now regardless of the "R" or "D" behind their names is...

It is not serving the people. If anything more Republicans are moving to the left not the other way as you suggest. The illusion is the leftist media that only highlights that which drives their liberal agenda. The media creates news and portrays the extremist Republicans as mainstream Republicans and totally ignore the extremist Democrats.

We need an infusion of independent leaders not driven by agenda, greed, power, social architecture, etc. We need good leaders and the pickings are few in the "D" and "R" camps.

Democrats had control of congress since 2006 and did everything the could to destroy Bush.

Obama had full control of congress after 2008 til 2010 and did all he could to dig the hole as deep as he could. 16 trillion in debt and growing faster than the Obama economy rate of growth.

Not to mention artificially inflated energy costs, insurance rates that are rising at unprecedented velocity and dismal workforce participation numbers....oh and great news in the housing market as well.

    Hope n Change baby!
