Law Drafted to Jail Parents for Punishing Their Children?

Swatting little Johnny on the bottom to make sure he doesn’t try again to put a fork in an electrical socket soon could make mom or dad a criminal subject to the penalties of child-abuse laws in Delaware.

And an international family rights organization says it not only opposes the idea, it will be working with state organizations to try to defeat the plan.

At issue is Delaware’s Senate Bill 234, which has been approved by the Senate and now is working its way through the House.

Next there will be a law that punishes parents because they removed the govt,. sanctioned layer of bubble-wrap and the poor little thing fell down and got a boo-boo.

Just let those children spend some special time with Republican dad of the year Jerry Sandusky! Honestly this sounds stupid as a law. That said 'the old ways' do have to be prohibited. Best friend as a kid was always a mess from his father the alcoholic cop... Luckily the drunk cop finally killed himself in a traffic accident.

some kids do not respond time outs, grounding, a talking to....my dad used a belt, i am fine, his dad used a razor strap on his kids-his parents had 12 kids. my mom smacked hands, her mother used switches.......again i am fine.........i spanked my girls for dangerous things when they were small. running out in front of cars, hitting each other or neighbor kids with things that required a trip to the er that required stitches. undisciplined children become undisciplined adults.

This shouldn't even be necessary. We aren't running around in loin cloths anymore. I don't get why parents can't just raise their children without assaulting them. But hey, if you want to beat your kids I guess it's your own business.

There have been numerous studies and this is on quite a few sites. Science isn't emotionally biased against corporal punishment, these are just facts.
