All religions are cults instituted by men to manipulate other humans behavior. A Mormon in the White House sure could eventually outrage fundamentalists unless Romney would be a good actor.

I’m not a fan of religion; doesn’t seem to be terribly healthy for us. That said, if we didn’t have it, we’d find another reason to rip each other to shreds. Seems to be our one true mission as a species …self-destruction. We ought to be able to find a better pastime.

If a person buys into the whole "punishment for sin" theme then they should ask themselves a few questions.

If "God" has a specific set of rules, other then those written on our hearts, why does he not speak to us?

If "God" wrote a book containing those rules, why did he not preserve it?

If the book was inspired by "God" and he gave a set of rules to a certain people, why is it that in the same book he commands them to break the very rules he declared holy?
