It's because it's been a dry summer.

Bush/Rove/Cheney are selling the water to corporations that send American jobs overseas and using the money to build a robot army to impose a police state. With US troops safely out of the country, there is nobody to stop them.

I like it. The tie to taking over the government is a real nice touch.

I can see the conspiracy jobs running with this one already.

I don't know what's causing the water in Lake Superior to decrease, but the answers I see listed here tell me that some of you have not really read about Global Warming to actually gain knowledge. Some of you won't admit it's true no matter what you've read until "the party" tells you it's true.

First of all, part of global warming is an EXTREME in storms, more volatile, violent, both summer and winter, but in general the MEAN temperature shows increase, and extreme rain (or snow in the winter) in one place and lack of moisture in another.

Secondly, scientists around the WORLD have reached a consensus that global warming exists and is a clear and present danger. The few scientists who disagree totally have been found to have ties and funding to industries who would be hurt by changing the way they do business.

Individual incidents may or may not have anything to do with global warming, but why do you say it hasn't rained much there? Hm-m-m. Isn't that an area that traditionally gets a lot of rainfall?

Sorry but I don't want to join the cult of climate change. I know you all get REALLY upset when we don't drink your carbon-neutral Kool-Aid but I will pass.

I could see it as being part of a cycle but I know that the lake gets a lot of abuse from humans so I wouldn't be surprised if we have a hand in it.

It was disclosed last week that Bush has had the lake tapped and is sending the water to an undisclosed location where it is being used as a coolant in a secret weapons development project. The reason the water has disappeared is that it is boiled off as steam in the process. He is racing against time to deploy the new weapon against terrorists in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan before the end of his term.

NAH - the real answer is it just hasn't rained as much lately.

I think as populations grow more water is needed.....it might be a bit of global but I doubt it..it's wicked cold up there in the winter

It's wicked cold in the Antarctic too, but it's warmer than it HAS been, which has caused ice to melt that's been there for 1000's of years.

You're absolutely right that population has an effect on water levels, but the water is WARMER too. That can't be caused by population growth.

Why don't the global warming crowd make some predictions. If this is so dire, within 5 years we should see many calamities.

The lake has been dropping over the last 10 years or so and is down over 2 feet. I read an article reporting the lake was down about 16 trillion gallons in that time period. Scientists are scrambling to figure out why and of course, there are different opinions from the "experts". There has been considerably less rain in the area for the past several years and many point to weather cycles and the present pattern is said to be "drier". Presently, we can do nothing to influence the weather and knowing how "we" can screw things up, that's probably a good thing. "It's not nice to fool mother nature"

It is another cycle, called the water cycle. Rain has been sparce in
that area this year so far. Eventually it will go back up, just like
the one in florida that everyone was screaming about earlier this year.
We are so quick to blame everything on global warming, but when
anything comes along that is contrary to global warming, then it is
just normal weather anomalies. Like the giant ice storm in November
across the midwest and central US last year. I didn't hear anyone
saying that it was global cooling on the way. Global warming is just a
way for scientists to get more funding from the government, otherwise
they wouldn't be afraid of people disagreeing with their "concensus".
