Hillary can run in 2016, I think that would be great. But now is the time for President Obama's re-election.

Hillary Clinton and Robert Kennedy are my favorite politicians of the last sixty years.
I am not a fan of Barack Obama. Every thing about him smacks of disingenuousness.
I believe Joe Biden is a closet racist.
As an ex Navy man, I have high regards for John McCain and his sacrifices for America.
I think Mitt Romney is a fine American and a great American success story.
Unfortunately, John McCain and Mitt Romney are Republican's, and I cannot separate the men from their party. That is why I voted for Obama (over McCain) in 2008, and that is why I will not vote for Romney in 2012.

I like Hillary, but her supporting Obama's policies- I know she has to- but I like pres. Clinton's supporting the pipeline, & his position on taxes right now, and he's smart enough to know you can't create an artificial green market in such tough times- otherwise all the rich democratic supporters would have sold more Volts than 2,000

I do not agree with the pipeline. It is far too expensive for what it is worth, and will cause very expensive and dangerous pollution and destroy precious already depleting water reservoirs, because oil sands cannot be removed from waters because it do not float on top of the water, it sinks. Besides, it is so expensive that it will only cost us more money for the oil and gas it produces, and it will take at least 10 years for them to become productive and start producing oil. It's not the answer you're looking for.

As for American oil, we are using more of our oil than any other worldwide oil market, and there are a third more oil rigs working now than there were when G.W. Bush left office in the beginning of 2009. The US President and their policies, no matter who it is, has no effect on the price of gas. It is market speculation, and nothing else. We must invest in clean energy, or we will lose out on that market to China, Germany, and Finland.

To be honest, I'm not thrilled about the pipeline either, but if I were the leader of the country & was responsible for securing sources of fuel strategically to protect supply in case the Middle East falls apart ( which is in all likelihood a possibilty if we stop inserting ourselves in conflicts), we're going to need that pipeline as protection from depleteing our reserves should a major disruption occurs. Maybe it wouldn't overall affect prices should nothing disrupt supply, but I think it's foolish and niave to not prepare for a disruption. We need it to keep the movement and distribution of at the very least food- to keep people from turning crazy if food & water become undeliverable- or scarce. Obama does not think strategically about these things- only about what he deems a "worthwhile" project. Why doesn't Obama talk more about Natural Gas vehicles???? They are clean, we have tons of it? Many buses run on it now. He's hung up on solar & wind. The largest solar plant produces like 50/60 Joules of power, the average coal burning power plant- 600 Joules. The batteries to the electric cars aren't affordable. The market isn't there, & neither is technology (to make it affordable). Obama made speeches about how Bush cared about his projects at the expense of the inner city child- don't seem to be a concern to Obama. Obama can blow 500 million on a company he had plenty of warning on that was going to fail and run out of cash. Instead of "making jobs for teachers, building falling down bridges, repairing roads - he put our hard earned tax dollars on something that had less chance for success than a roulette table. The list goes on- but none of you will ever hold him accountable in a manner you want the Wall Strret Companies who bet on risky investments to be accountable. In any other corporate position this would be mass leadership failure. Yet you make excuses for him "because you like him". Doen't matter if the tax hike proposal really doesn't address why Warren Buffet pays so little in taxes, it doesn't matter if Jon Corzine whom Obama sought business advice drive M&F Global's investors money into the ground, and illegally moved 200 million to foreign accounts to cover loses, and it doesn't matter that the head of GE is another one of Obama's advisors, and GE doesn't pay corporate taxes AND moved their X-Ray Division to China. None of you will ever hold him accountable for his hypocrisy, or will you buy the Volt or Solyndra solar panels, or will even his advisors be called on the carpet by Obama for doing the things that result in loss of tax revenue, or failing to create a green market that would make him a successful leader. All because making yourselves believe you're right is more important than seeing the truth.

We do not need that pipeline, because it will take at least ten years to become fruitful, and we would be much better off both economically and ecologically to continue working on clean energy sources which will net in many more longer lasting jobs than the pipeline would bring. If you are worried about depleting reserves, I'm surprised you aren't more interested in alternative, renewable green energy and clean water? Clean water sources, and much more important resources at that, are also depleting, and you want the taxpayers to invest in a pipeline that should any leak occur (which has already happened), would pollute the waters so completely that they could never ever be used for clean water sources ever again?

As far as natural gas goes, natural gas is clean to burn, but it is very unstable, dangerous, and explosive on the road - not a good idea for so many to be using it for transportation. Besides, the fracking method used to get to the extra natural gas is also polluting our waters, and it is also causing loud bangs in places and even small to moderate earthquakes. In the long run, green energy is the best answer to lowering prices of energy in the future. Sure, in the beginning it will be more costly, but we will all be much better for it in the future.

    In a nutshell, ...

We get very little oil as it is from the mid-east, there is no need to worry about depletion if we do the right things, and if anyone is trying to get away with telling you that green energy won't work, they're lying to you! Ever hear of Rupert Murdock, or the Koch Brothers?
  • Janet C K findthe... 2012/03/27 00:41:59 (edited)

Stop with the Koch Bros. I am SO sick of people using them as some power source. Obama really needs to find something better than that- like a record of not looking to people like John Corzine to give him market advice, like not putting the CEO of GE on his list of advisors- who moved their X-ray division to China recently- and doesn't pay corporation taxes. Or David Axlerod, his chief campaign consultant who also consulted Excelon Corp- a nuclear power plant that leaked waste into ground water and got into the wells of residents in Obama's district as a Senator- he told a crowd of loyal followers he passed legislation requiring such leaks to be reported- which was a total lie- AND Excelon gave $200,000 to Obama's campaign in 2008 & is giving again this year. I could go on. I know you want to believe he's this great and genuine guy, who stands up for what's right, repudiates what's wrong, but the fact is he's worse than your average politician because not only is he as bad as the rest, he's gotten you to fall in love with him- and he's got a whole other side to him the MSM will avoid focusing on because of their own bias. They don't demand the same level of accountability from him as they do the others and I personally find that extremely disrespectful to the public- and to Obama- he isn't a special needs case, and should be treated the same as everyone else- and allow him to stand or fall based on his accomplishments- or lack of.

You mention a $200,000.00 donation by a company to Obama's campaign, but did you ever try to look up how much they gave to the Republicans? I'm sure it is much more. At any rate, it doesn't hold a candle to the kind of money in the millions that the Republicans are getting from people like the Koch Brothers! Did it ever occur to you to even check into why the Koch Brothers invest in campaigns of interest under the guise of political PACs? None of it is in the interest of the American citizen, or the USA.
