Matthew Carrol, writing for DESMOGBLOG.COM, describes the threat to a major U.S. water aquifer, the "Ogallala Aquifer in Nebraska." The Keystone XL pipeline project would cross the aquifer on its sourthern route towards Texas. Given the water shortages faced by an increasing population, the project is a serious threat to the nation's drinking water supply. It should not be built.

Why should we let Reagan Banks and Wall Street billionaires invest our retirement savings and Mutual Fund accounts in this risky and likely unprofitable venture just to give Texas some revenues in it's ports at Galveston? Let Canada build it's own pipeline to the Pacific coast at Vancouver. If the pipe is exploded by a terrorist or leaks, let them clean up the mess and pay for their own ventures.reply
