Just to be fair to the less fortunate Olympians, who maybe didnt work as hard,or were not as talented as some who won many gold medals......shouldnt the gold medal winners turn in their gold metals and share with all the others so every one gets a silver?

I had a pretty good record-winning far more fights than I lost. However, on those occasions when I DID lose, I never felt in the slightest bit 'bad' about it. The way I always looked at it was that I had been beaten by a better BOXER than myself on the day- not necessarily a better MAN!
I would suggest that athletes who feel 'bad' about losing and not receiving a medal for their efforts-whether they be boxers, runners , jumpers,cyclists-whatever-are psychologically unsuited to take part in any competitive sport ,as such as them must be overly-sensitive and thus lacking in the resolve and 'steel' in their character that any decent athlete-whether they be 'Olympians'or competing at a much lower level-requires in his athletic life.
I was being TOTALLY sarcastic.
because obie wants ALL success shared equally, WE didn't build that, right?
i wonder if the athletes feel like they "built" their success, or if everyone of us who ever bought a coke, a McD's sandwich, or a PandG product SHARE that success.
However, when one considers that the TRUE ethos of the Olympics is meant to be the privilege of being selected to represent your country-whichever that may be-at the highest level possible, the'Olympics'-and to do your VERY best-for your country-then it doesn't really matter a damn if you don't bring a medal home!
Sadly,as in so many other things in the society we now live in, this simple truth has been
now mostly overlooked in the thirst for personal glory.
So much for the SPIRIT of the games, bring on the dictators.
