United States of America
Who was Lee Atwater? who was Kevin Phillips,? what does the phrase the
"Southern strategy" mean? who was Rod Shealy? and what was his purpose for
entering and paying the candidate fees for an unemployed black man who
then ran against Shealy's own sister for Lt. Governor in 1990. (Note:
Shealy was her political consultant.)
And you all thought Alvin Greene was novel. Nope, been there and Cons did
that, again.
History seems to be at odds with you. Next you will be calling
history a liberal plot, a RINO, and try and get some school board, or talk
show host, to rewrite your shameless past. Glenn Beck is just the latest
incarnation of the GOP's long documented, "Southern Strategy" to use,
"code words" for racism, in this case, "Black Liberation Theology."
First they tried the, he is a Muslim not like you white folks angle, now
the implication here is Obama doesn't have the same kind of Christianity
that you white folks have.
Here is quote from Atwater in 1981 which lays it all out,
"You start out in 1954 by saying, "N*****, n*****, n*****." By 1968 you
can't say "n*****" — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like
forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so
abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and...

can't say "n*****" — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like
forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so
abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these
things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of
them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe
that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is
getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the
racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously
sitting around saying, "We want to cut this," is much more abstract than
even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "N*****,
n*****."
Indeed Mr. Atwater, thank you for explaining to us what this, "Black
Liberation Theology" angle is all about, a historical continuation of the
the GOP's negrophobic, "Southern Strategy."
Ironically, the only person here who is not a Christian is Glenn Beck who
is a Morman.

All those horrible clergy that represented just about every religion that came together and the participants, in one symphonic voice - said "We the People..."
Atheists and Muslims and Catholics and Jews and Baptists and Mormons and.... Lutherans and Agnostics ...and and...
They don't oppose the concepts of faith, hope, charity, or honor, because they don't understand those concepts as they are expressed by people who believe in America.
If Glenn Beck succeeds in focusing the attention of the general public on faith, hope, charity, and honor as expressed in the concepts of America most of Glenn Beck's opponents will be looking for some other way to stir controversy for profit.
I don't understand?
That rally really scared them! Wait till November.
The point is - for every one attending in person; how many were at home watching in spirit or checking it out later? This movement has legs is my guess.
I know in my own travels, I have repeated statements from famous and hated right wingers to people that claim to hate every breath of said right wingers, without letting them know who said it, and they almost universally agree with them.........until I tell them who made the statement and then they stutter and stumble over themselves to try to cover their absolute lack of knowledge of these people they claim to despise.
Thank God, I have actually watched Olbermann, Maddcow, Chris "My Leg Tingles" Matthews and all the others so I can see their hatred first hand and I did not need someone else to tell me about it.
