JUDGE REFUSES TO BLOCK FLORIDA VOTE PURGE

Yo'Adrienne..AFCL 2012/06/27 20:21:09

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A federal judge has refused to stop Florida from removing potentially non-U.S. citizens from its rolls.

The U.S. Department of Justice sued the state to halt the purge, arguing it was going on too close to a federal election.

U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle said Wednesday that there was nothing in federal voting laws that prevent the state from identifying non-U.S. citizens even if it comes less than 90 days before the Aug. 14 election.

Hinkle ruled that federal laws are designed to block states from removing eligible voters close to an election. He said they are not designed to stop states from blocking voters who should have never been allowed to cast ballots in the first place.

Gov. Rick Scott praised Hinkle’s decision, saying “irreparable harm will result if non-citizens are allowed to vote.”

I see nothing wrong with the State purging voters who should not be on the list.

Maybe it is time for the states to ALL start suing Obama and the Dept of INJUSTICE for their Gunrunning Scheme. For their LEAKS on information that is vital to our security. For their sending money to our ENEMIES!! That is TREASONOUS!!!

I am certain the Florida did a fair and thorough job on the purge. Now they can't vote the illegals and the dead! Non-citizens who vote are subject to immediate deportation if the immigration laws of the land are followed.

Thank goodness the judge made the right decision for the citizens of Florida. I'm sure there are other states that should follow the lead shown by Florida and get rid of all their noncitizens from their voting rolls..

So the attorneys representing the administration tried to convince a judge that if an illegal alien were found on the voting rolls they couldn't be removed because it's within 90 days of an election? How could they argue that with a straight face?

“Leaving ineligible voters on the list is not a solution. Noncitizens should not be voting,” the judge said. “People need to know we are running an honest election.”

Sixty percent of Floridians in a recent Quinnipiac University poll said they agreed with Scott that noncitizens should not be on the rolls.

Democrats accuse Scott of trying to suppress votes in Florida, and the liberal group MoveOn.org is running a TV ad calling the purge “racist” and challenging Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to condemn it.

Attorney Michael Carvin, representing Secretary of State Ken Detzner, said the state is suing to seek access to a Department of Homeland Security database to better ascertain the citizenship status of voters. The federal agency has so far refused the state’s request, claiming it has not received necessary information from the state.

“If we get the (federal) data, I do expect the state to proceed and protect the integrity of the voter rolls,” Carvin said.

Well, considering that, by the Republican Partys' OWN data, the percentage of illegal aliens actually CAUGHT voting is in the neighborhood of 0.0004% compared to the overall voting populace, How much tax money is Florida spending to ensure that Blacks and Hispanics can't vote? Perhaps Florida should just ban ALL Democrats from voting. Then the Republican Reactionary dream would be realized, a ONE-Party state like China, Iran, Zimbabwe and here:

You must not be keeping up with the stats. The latest I was seeing is up to 4- 5%. In a close election, that can mean the entire election determined by ineligible voters.
