Turns out he didn't deserve the honor. Someone on a news show said no statues should be raised for any person still alive. It should be dedicated to a person based on their whole life after they've passed. (or something along those lines).

The man who reported it to his superiors, they did nothing, heard the accusations from 1 other who did not see it happen now is not alive to defend himself.
I wonder what he could have done? I guess, thow shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor, is no longer a valid arguement. Paterno acted on hearsay and told his superiors.
Blame it on one who can't defend himself, such COWARDICE!

He should rot there. Paterno brought the accusation to the brass. Their non reponse is angering and if they end up in jail as punishment it is deserved.

He had only hearsay to go by, no visual proof or fact to back If he had tried to stop Sandusky what would have happened? With out proof you can't do anything. Lawsuits can result because of this. I hate what happened but until there is proof it can be a false accusation and until then I will not bear witness to it.
When false accusations are false, the accused still has a mark that never goes away.

A child would not be in collage doing adult collage football. Young adults are in collage. He said he thought he heard the sound of flesh slapping together but he did not look to see what was happening. Some twisted minds like sex both ways. If the coach had seen what was going on it would be different but he did NOT see anything! He assaulted children in his own home including his son. His wife was there but no one questions her so called lack of knowledge.
Paterno wanted the accusation investigated and went through the proper channels to do it and his bosses failed him. Was he suposed to go around his superiors and go direct to the police with hearsay and no proof?

You need to do some research about the facts before continuing embarrassing yourself.

Sandusky ran a youth program that used the college facilities INCLUDING the showers. These were children who were raped on campus.
I don't care how you try to spin it, Paterno is just as guilty for not doing EVERYTHING humanly possible to ensure this was followed up on by the FBI if need be and dealt with years ago.

You are calling him a saint.It is funny how everyone conviently forgot the assistant coach who said he heard but did not see it happen. Why did he not do more. Cowards blame people who have no ability to fight back. Due process is dead!

Wise decision. The statue came down and his name on the library will remain.
Compromise.

However, this doesn't remove the fact that he was a sick individual for allowing this to go on ONE day after his first knowledge.

I quess due process of law isn't in your book either. The rwason you don't say anything about the assistant coach who first reported it is that he is alive not dead which you can not handle.

The sad, sorry time for this university .. is now (hopefully) going to be able to be in the past ..
(MY Sympathies for the Victims in this case ... those children will never forget what happened to them)
