And you thought Barack Obama and Mitt Romney were the only ones participating in a hearty debate about the future of America. Turns out, Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly will have at it, too! The 90-minute debate between Stewart and O'Reilly will take place at George Washington University, but fans of either TV personality can live-stream the debate for $4.95.

Stewart is referring to the debate as an “old-fashioned duel of wits” and O'Reilly says the two will be “debating the state of the union and how the upcoming election is likely going to effect it.” So, who do you have your money on?

NYPOST.COM reports:
Jon Stewart and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly will face off Oct. 6 in a debate being billed as “The Rumble In The Air-Conditioned Auditorium.”

If you ever watch Stewart outside the confines of his show, he is very well informed and thought out in his positions. He has to be to be able to generate the punchlines for his show.

The difference here is Stewart takes facts and makes jokes out of them while O'Reilly takes jokes and pretends they are facts.

Government spending to the tune of over 16 trillion dollars is what has every business in this country waiting for the economy to fail. My husband runs a corporation and he is in limbo....waiting to see what Obama is going to tax next to pay for the ever expanding Government. He refuses to hire or even bid on large jobs....waiting to see what's going to happen to the dollar. If our economy fails because of the debt, everyone's 401ks and retirements, etc will collapse. Also, he's waiting to see what will happen to our country's energy policy if/when we have a change in the white house. Obama has flat out created uncertainty....no budget, no cuts, no attempt to scale back Government....only more promises, more people dependent upon Government. It's depressing the numbers of employees that he has let go.....many were fantastic workers. We are in survival mode and more Government spending does nothing for the business owners I know.

One of the many reasons I didn't vote for Obama is because he doesn't support the fair tax. I'll support any tax scheme that doesn't tax business or personal income.

No doubt about it. Billo didn't even know why the tides came in and out until he made his famously stupid statement.

Billo is a repeating station for Karl Rove and the rest of the "I want the power but I'm not running for office" set. Stewart researches his comedy more thoroughly than Billo has ever researched a story.

they are both blow hards. Stewart is a typical lib who gets his talking points from Media Matters and DailyKooks, O'Reilly is so full of himself it isn't funny he reals against something and does the Vatican shuffle and craps all over himself when someone says something about the catholic church.
I think a fair fight would be Stewart and Stoussel.

Two idiots bloviating on stage .. (i'll pass)

Fortunately, neither will be guests on either's show.
They will be debate with a moderator & debate rules.

I think it will be fun to watch (if I can... I don't know how I can get it in Germany).
    ...& I'm betting on Stewart.

Maher is one of the worst debaters. He is used as an example for logical fallacies. He commits the "Strawman Fallacy" more than most; I enjoyed his documentary, but claiming that Christianity is a load of crap because he won a debate against someone at a truck stop church is stretching it. This is coming from an Atheist btw.

Not true he Humiliates Oreilly time and time again without fail making Oreilly into a helpless school girl against a wild polar bear. And i dont think christianity is crap but he exposed the typical mind sets of robots that exists in the truck stop churches i for one needed to see that because im a city guy. He didnt try 2 prevail against christianity just because he debated them if you think that then you failed to see his genius.

The thesis of the documentary was that "Religion must be stopped." The thesis of that specific segment is, "There is no logic in their opinions."

Well guess what? Have the Pope talk to a truck stop atheist and I bet the Pope would win.

Maher went there with specific points, whereas they went there just as if they were going to Church. They had no idea someone was going to question their beliefs.

~~Actually there should have been a third choice BOTH~O'Reilly and Stewart genuinely like each other and have a good time with these debates and have done many together~And they are both Very funny together~ So my vote would have been Both if it were an option~

Good point. I picked Jon Stewart because I really can't even stand to watch O'Reilly. I know what O'Reilly thinks, and that's all you ever learn from watching him. I don't have to waste time watching him degrade, outshout and block his own guests and tell me what he thinks AGAIN. And I don't find the whole SMBD thing fascinating anyway. In other words, I detest him. LOL.

BUT I WILL likely watch him try to do it to Jon Stewart. And SO, you are absolutely right.....they both win and will walk laughing to the bank together, basking in their ratings. GOOD CALL! ;-)
