And you thought Barack Obama and Mitt Romney were the only ones participating in a hearty debate about the future of America. Turns out, Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly will have at it, too! The 90-minute debate between Stewart and O'Reilly will take place at George Washington University, but fans of either TV personality can live-stream the debate for $4.95.

Stewart is referring to the debate as an “old-fashioned duel of wits” and O'Reilly says the two will be “debating the state of the union and how the upcoming election is likely going to effect it.” So, who do you have your money on?

NYPOST.COM reports:
Jon Stewart and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly will face off Oct. 6 in a debate being billed as “The Rumble In The Air-Conditioned Auditorium.”

If you ever watch Stewart outside the confines of his show, he is very well informed and thought out in his positions. He has to be to be able to generate the punchlines for his show.

The difference here is Stewart takes facts and makes jokes out of them while O'Reilly takes jokes and pretends they are facts.

I'd much rather see Dennis Miller debate Stewart. That would be much more lively.

I don't know who the more intelligent of the two is yet Stewart is the quicker witted and fast thinkers usually win debates over slower thinkers. also zingers seem to take precedence over fact and Stewart is a comedian with a full quiver. also O'Reilly will not be able to use his usual M.O. to keep his opponent from spinning as he does his guests. I think it is going to make some money for these gentlemen but it hardly matters in the scheme of things.

John Stewart because he doesn't mind telling it how it is regardless of what party looks bad. Bill O'Reilly masks a lot of things that the Republicans do wrong.

As I read these comments its a clear picture that most of the liberals are hateful and snarky about bill and most all the nonliberals think of it as great fun the difference carrys over into the way libbys look at most every thing and its funny but the non liberals are far more accepting isnt it supposed to be just the opposite??

Bill's short answers aside, I detest Stewart, although he's quick witted & speaks well, but then so does Bill. Bill is on the right side of right, so that's always a winner.

My thinking is that O'Reilly will win the debate, because right is right, period. However, I imagine he'll feel like he's been run over by a big truck when it's over. It's exhausting, trying to get people like Stewart or any socialist to see the truth.

    Stewart is far from Socialist.
Have you ever watched his show?
He gives no roses to Obama or any other Democrat when they screw up. Everyone's fair game. He has on Republican & Democratic Senators & Representatives. His are some of the better interviews around... though they're far too short.
He does the job that the rest of the media doesn't do.
...& that is the point, isn't it? That a comedy show, on a comedy network, gives better, clearer, more unbiased analysis than any of the other supposed "news" networks.

I picked Jon Stewart because I detest O'Reilly. I don't have time to waste watching him abuse his guests to tell us once again what he thinks. BUT someone else here (FlyGalsMom) made a very good point. They will both win.

Because people like myself who detest O'Reilly and never watch, WILL watch him in this, in hopes that Stewart will show him up for the bombastic, opinionated (and often wrong) bully he is. AND people who detest Stewart as a mindless buffoon will watch in hopes O'Reilly will make him cry....I can already see Stewart wrinkling his face in pouting mock fear and supplication. LOL.

So they will laugh all the way to the bank together, basking in their ratings. ;-)

That is a poor reason for saying one will win over another. Now you may have a point that people will underestimate Steward because his show airs on a comedy channel. & the last line is well put.
  • me Todd 2012/10/05 14:22:47

Well, I didn't make that point, actually and wasn't giving any "reason" one will win over the other. I didn't consider it a serious enough question to begin with for there actually to be a "good" or "poor" reason for any response. That said, my actual answer was in agreement with that of another person...that they both win, no matter what and will laugh all the way to the bank together, basking in their ratings. I can't help it the survey only provided the two choices with no "other" or "neither" or "both" options. Anyway, have a nice day.

Bill will win in my mind because Bill will be on the right side of reality, but Jon is very smart, and I think they could have picked someone much more able to defend the small-government position. I'd love to have Jon Stewart debate Neal Boortz. THAT would be a fair fight! :D

Jon Stewart ,a typical liberal, will not be factual , just loud which leads some to think "win"....... OReilly uses facts and doesn't have a biased delivery. I think he'll come out on top. He is smarter not sensational.
