He also showed great strength during the Cuban missile crisis, saving the world. Also we seem to forget it was Kennedy that started the civil rights motion and he was the one who started the space program, so think what he could of done if he was not killed.

JFK was a terrible president. He was responsible for Vietnam and the Cold War because he was influenced by the Catholic Church. This fact is not well known but it is fact. He nearly got us into World War III. He totally loosened our immigration laws and we are feeling their effects now with muslim terrorists entering our shores. Of course there is the question of the murder of Marilyn Monroe. Most of what people think of JFK was developed in some PR man's brain. He was the result of a very ruthless organization, the Kennedy family. His best attribute was charm and that disarmed many to the truth.

Where can I get the crack your smoking JFKs may have got us into Vietnam and dispatched a couple of troops but he was opposed to war in Vietnam Johnson declared war in nam JFK prevented world war 3 his actions in the bay of pigs and the Cuban missle crisis were totally justifiable. But I would have to choose Ronald Reagan right now just because of his economic policies would come in handy about now

    John F. Kennedy no question.

I see some people have bought into the Reagan myth. Reaganomics is the reason we are in the economic mess we are today, then add more Bush tax cuts for the upper 1.5% and a 10 year war and you have the GOP.

I'm not sure if Kennedy planned out and implicated an all out assault on the middle class or not. I'm not sure if Kennedy negotiated and funded terroristic regimes, then lied to congress about it or not. I'm not sure if Kennedy tripled the deficit and grew government, along with raising taxes 11 times, while running against doing those exact things or not.

    But guess who did.
grew government raising taxes 11 times running exact guess Reagan gif

To pull us away from a depression, cause by conservative deregulations.

Reagan tripled the deficit when he was in office, without the looming threat of an economic breakdown.

Also check your math there Mr. Wizard. 10 billion out of 14trillion isn't allot.

I know you did, that's why i told you to check it. But i still stand by his decisions. I didn't like the idea of bailouts, however it saved jobs, and American Industries; in a time when unemployment was ballooning out of control.

It's like faulting the Dr. for charging you for life saving treatments, rather than just letting you die cheaply.

You are faulting him for the discourse conservative deregulations sent our economy on during the previous 8 years before he took office.

Would you rather our corner stone institutions of manufacturing and industry be non-existent, and our country be in a debilitating depression?

I was completely against any bailouts and thought they should all pay for the transgressions that got them in the situation. However, seeing how it turned out, I admit I was wrong, and the bailouts served the greater good. Yet another reason why i'm not competent to hold public office.

Do we now have a very tough task of overcoming our handicap? Sure. Is that going to be easier than limping along with a decimated industrial sector, and a middle class transformed into 3rd world poverty? Undoubtedly.

You had me in agreement until you fell off the deep end with "seeing how it turned out". We are in much worse shape than if we had just let it work itself out without interfering. When we interfered we took away the free market system of capitalism and went right to a socialist approach which has never worked anywhere in the world.

So we're in much worse shape now that American corporations are back turning a profit, than we would be had we have severed the ability to ever make that profit again? Nice.

The problem is we don't make business pay their way, and expect government to pay for it's self. It doesn't. And the middle class just called, they can no longer pay for everyone else.

profit business pay expect government pay middle class pay Earnings graph rich poor
    Anything wrong with this picture?

Also, this question was about JFK and Reagan. And again, it was Reagan who tripled the debt and raised taxes 6 of his 8 years in office, expanded government, negotiated with, armed, and funded terrorist regimes, despite his eloquent speeches and campaign promises to do otherwise.

You're the one who brought Obama in to use his policy as a defense for Reagan. I could just as easily have used Bush to make JFK look like the greatest man who ever lived, however i chose to stick with the relative issues regarding the question at hand.

Would you rather the guy cheat on his wife... Or fund the same terroristic regimes that brought Osama Bin Laden into power, and dropped our towers. Or triple the deficit, grow government, and lie to congress about his dealings with terrorists and drug cartels, like Regan.

The Cuban Missile Crisis was JFK's fault? I guess he ordered them there huh?

Or did i remember something about him preventing the whole thing from escalating, and saving our bacon.... hmmm....

Vietnam was lost by Westmoreland. He was playing WWII in a modern Guerrilla War, presidents listen to their generals when it comes to war tactics. Generals win or lose the conflict.

At any rate, Reagan would have supplied the North Vietnamese with money and weapons before we fought them.... It's kinda what he did.
