The girl was with 15 other people believed to be in the country illegally who were traveling to the Midwest and northeast United States, said Chris Hegstrom, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.

"She's been turned over to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to try to determine where she's from. She told us she's from El Salvador. That's what she told us," he said.

Once again, another fair facts post from another liberal. He was protecting her from the people she was traveling from. The girl is now safe. Have you never read about all of the slave trafficing through Arizona? Everyone, please do the research and you will catch another liberal in the act of reporting half truths to stir up confusion.

Age really doesn't matter. The operative word is "illegal". Besides, it would have been far worse to not arrest her, and leave her behind.

If my daughter was in that situation, I'd want authorities to do the right thing. Who knows what the intentions for her were?

I suspect the child was simply taken into custody, then transferred to ICE. What else were they supposed to do---send her on her way alone? Yeeesh. This is a non-story.

She was with 15 other people who were all here illegally? What was he to do? He couldn't very well arrest the others and leave a 6 year old child alone on the streets. I'm no fan of Sheriff Joe. I think he's a bigoted, egotistical glory-hound. But I'm also no fan of unfair attacks just because you don't like someone's politics.

I only wish that I could get TAD to his jurisdiction. It would be great working for him.

It's only fair if she's actually here illegally. And if she is, then the HUMANE thing to do is to send her back to her country with her family.

Why is it that conservatives insist that they won elections where the result was them losing seats? Do you folks understand the concept of math? The dems didn't manage to throw out everyone they targeted, but they did throw out some of them. There are three less gop state senators than there were, and control of the senate is in the dem's hands now. There was a recall, and it was partially successful. Republicans gained nothing, dems gained three seats and control of one legislatove house.

The kid is better off going back instead of ending up being some ignorant mustards live in slave. Or worse. I see the whole thing. Both side loses. Except for the rich who would exploit that baby then the taxpayers would have foot the bill to support another illegal. After everyone was done taking a piece.

Yeah, the article could be clearer. They keep saying arrest...I'd be more comfortable with the word 'detained'. You detain someone to find out the story (especially with a minor), but arrest seems a bit harsh for a 6 year old.

In the last four years as a Law Enforcement Officer (and even in my six years of what is now NCIS as an Evidence Analyst) I have continual interaction with the media. 90% of the time they are inaccurate in their reporting of a case, and when one inaccurately reports it, the rest, instead of doing investigative reporting, follow suit, referencing their stories to the original.

No, there was no formal arrest. The child was taken into custody for her own protection, and by Federal Law (which liberals feel is the only law that immigration falls under), turned over to the Federal Immigration authorities (ICE) for investigation and action.

News media and most civilians confuse the act of custody (in this case protective) with arrest as it pertains to Law Enforcement action. In the case of most news media outlets though, I belive they make the switch on purpose just to get their weak minded liberal subscribers up in arms.

police are involved, therefore it is an arrest to many people and the media is only too happy to reinforce that belief, Also when it comes to Arpaio, he is a wicked evil man and is always wrong regardless. While the article is not specific, a 6 year old with 15 others? Parents? Did she run away, kidnapped, sold? Truty from El Salvador?
