Today the question would be will the unemployment RISE effect your vote Tuesday 7.9 from 7.8 in my book means he lost jobs
  • Michael 2012/11/05 17:13:01 (edited)
Jobless claims are not a true indicator of "recovery"! Talk about cooking the books, it is shameful. If this were a commercial, the government would ban it due to grossly misleading factually! The government only counts people if they are "ACTIVELY" searching. The black unemployment rate went UP from 13.4 to 14.3 and in general 7.9 up from 7.8 The highest unemployment for an incumbent since Roosevelt!

You do realize Roosevelt inherited the Great Depression? We were at 10% three years ago I believe? He was at 25%...

All this means is that people have given up filing claims. Their "unemployment" has run out, and they are not eligible to re-file. So they become "unpersons."

NJ +1,575 Layoffs in the transportation and manufacturing industries. (week ending October)
The bum and his cohorts have done nothing for 4 years but borrow and print money.
  • Elauna 2012/11/05 07:25:57
I don't believe those numbers! I think that the numbers are higher but Obama doesn't want the truth to go out among the public!
  • strawberry 2012/11/05 07:05:12
My vote has remained firm for President Obama long ago.
  • littlebuffalo55TBA 2012/11/05 05:46:53
Lol? Huh? Are you for real? The unemployment rate went from 7.8% to 7.9% as of the very last report! That shows a "recovering economy"? Oh sure! I'm not even going to ask who you're voting for!
  • Dan 2012/11/05 05:42:24
Fewer jobless "claims" do not mean there are fewer jobless Americans. Claims went down and umemployment went up. How is that "signaling a recovering economy"?

It has not fallen. It went back up to 7.9% and even these numbers do not accurately reflect the true situation. Scores of people are underemployed and scores more have given up looking. These people are not factored in. The economic situation is stagnant and dismal. I never voted for Obama and never would. My mind was made up a long time ago.
  • Hamilton 2012/11/05 01:16:36
It didn't fall again, it edged back up.

    Get your numbers right.

    Gone baby gone
first of all the jobless claims should now be covered not by the Department of Labor but by the US Census, because the numbers of people that are in the U.S. is 320 million, give or take around 20 million due to immigrants and the flex transient tourist, so that gives us a start point for 153 million on the workforce at the end of Bush and we lost 31 million, so we have over 50 percent of the total country not working.. Let the Census guys tell us how many are really unemployed.. I bet they would get more people answering the door these days and their recorded data would prove more to reality. This paper tiger reporting from the department of labor is fuzzy logic projection BS.

We will all reach Tuesday and even if our voting is all different, on Wednesday we will finally all come together with the results. For the next 4 years we will all be in the same boat...... sink for some, swim if you can for others and, hopefully, others will reach down and grab the hand of someone sinking so that we can come through it to vote another day. It is not 4 more years but "only" 4 more years. We, as Americans, will do what we always do..... survive.

If you make a dumb mistake once and correct it one can say that you learned from it. In your case however, making the same mistake twice just shows how dumb you truly are.
  • Digman14 Angus 2012/11/04 23:50:07
Only 18. Couldn't vote last time. I clearly can't learn from a mistake if I haven't made it.

Oh, I see what you did that, calling Obama a mistake. My only rebuttal is this...

    "Really... Romney is your solution?"
  • Angus Digman14 2012/11/05 02:20:15
Guess your age is your only excuse. At least you have one. Let me give you some facts to think about:

    1) National Debt increased by $ 6 trillion. A known POTUS called Bush unpatriotic for a $ 4 trillion increase over 8 years.

    2) 47 Million Americans on food stamps

    3) More people in poverty

    4) Real unemployment over 10%

    5) Government abandoning Americans in Libya who end up being murdered

    6) $ 756 million cut in Medicare to pay for Obama Care

And you want to give this failure of a POTUS another 4 years? Please tell me you are not that dumb.
  • Digman14 Angus 2012/11/05 03:08:24 (edited)
    1. The National Debt is so fast increasing because we've had two wars that were unpaid for, and still about 4.5 million more people out of work (and not paying taxes) than we did five years ago.

    2. People become eligible for food stamps. He does not personally put people on food stamps.

    3. There are more people in poverty because eight million people lost their jobs in the lame-duck session of the Bush Presidency.

    4. Better than the 13% it was three years ago. Although I would like to see these "real unemployment" numbers.

    5. Four people were murdered, why do you have to turn their deaths into a political point? Soldiers and citizens die every day in Afghanistan, why aren't you upset about their deaths too?

    6. That $756 billion cut was money that was saved through reforms. Because now insurance companies have to give you a refund if they don't spend a certain amount on your premiums.

My age is not my only "excuse". I'm a well informed voter, and Political Science student. He hasn't been perfect, or even great. But I think he has the potential to be a very good President if we just work with him.

The government was advertising I. Spanish about getting on food stamps, trying to entice the Hispanic voters to get entitlements

4 people died because Obama's administration ignored their numerous pleas for help and rescue. That's the difference between them and other soldiers who have died. It became political when Obama blamed someone else (video maker) instead of his administration and himself.

750 billion wasn't saved from reforms, it was taken from Medicare and is going to cost everyone $4000 more a year to pay for his "affordable" healthcare.

If Obama does get re-elected, report back to us in 4 years about your success in getting hired for a job, or how many jobs had to let you go because they couldn't afford to keep you, or stay in business. Let us know about your success in growing a bank account large enough to be able to move out, and stay out of your parents' home.

Will do. Although I'm going into Law and eventually Civil Service, so my kind of job will never go away. I'll be making $90,000 starting, and I'm setting up as many job offers as I can right now with my professors, mentors, tutors and just about everyone I know.

Not to mention I'll only be 22-23 and just getting out of college or maybe Law School if I set up my credits right.

My brother is a police officer and they are talking about forcing early retirement on some, and minimizing the police force they have. My brother is working for 2 towns because the adjacent town laid off half their force. There are towns now going without police because of budget cuts. They aren't hiring new, they are keeping the experienced officers. The police departments are hurting just as bad as the rest of us.
  • Digman14 Hidden ... 2012/11/05 07:14:32
You misunderstood when I said Civil Service. I meant as an Legislator or Executive Official.
  • legalam... Digman14 2012/11/05 20:53:24 (edited)
I hope the government civil service ( another useless union protecting people who get lazy( aka tenure etc ) is removed permanently from the tax payers shoulders .

By any chance, are your parents lifelong Democrats?
  • Digman14 Bobbie S 2012/11/05 21:17:06
Yes they are, but I have many views that they disagree with. Most farther to the left, but I have a few semi-conservative social views, i.e. guns and abortion.
  • Angus Digman14 2012/11/05 22:47:10
    1. BS - Obama promised to cut the deficit in half. Instead he increased it.
    2. Obama handed food stamps out like candy just to empower his entitlement class
    3. Democrats took over in 2006. When are you going to hold them responsible?
    4. Nice try but still a lies
    5. Treason is not a political point. It's a crime committed by Obama
    6. What reforms dreamer boy?

Seems that your study of Political Science didn't get you past the Communist Manifest. Guess you wasted our money again. Only potential Obama has is that of a good enemy combatant imprisoned at Gitmo.

You didn't provide any facts or media to back up your argument, you literally ignored everything I said. You didn't try to refute my claims through research or citation. You automatically assumed they were false. I believe you are what people call "close-minded".
