Jindal tells Obama and the dems on medicaid. F.U.

iamnothere 2012/06/29 18:06:01

The Supreme Court upheld
President Barack Obama's health care law on Thursday, but Louisiana Gov.
Bobby Jindal, a possible Republican vice presidential contender who has
refused to establish a federally mandated health care exchange in his
state, said Friday that he will continue to ignore it.

"We're not going to start implementing Obamacare," Jindal said during
a conference call with Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell. "We're committed to
working to elect Gov. Romney to repeal Obamacare."

Under the Affordable Care Act, states must set up a health insurance
exchange program by Jan. 1, 2014, and will receive grants from the
federal government to implement it. Several Republican governors,
including both Jindal and McDonnell, have put off setting up the
exchanges in the hope that the law would be repealed or struck down by
the court. Now that the law has been upheld, Jindal said he won't change
course and is looking to presumptive Republican presidential nominee
Mitt Romney to lead the repeal effort if he takes office in 2013.

"Here in Louisiana we have not applied for the grants, we have not
accepted many of these dollars, we're not implementing the exchanges,"
Jindal said. "We don't think it makes any sense to implement Obamacare
in Louisiana. We're going to do what we can to fight it."

Despite the court ruling, there is still
a chance that Republicans in Congress can repeal much of the law next
year even if they don't have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.
Because Chief Justice John Roberts ruled that the mandate to purchase
health insurance—one of the key provisions of the law—was a tax, Republicans can use a procedure called "budget reconciliation" to pass a repeal bill
that requires only a simple majority to pass. But this scenario relies
on the Republicans' ability to win the White House, keep the majority in
the House and gain enough seats in the Senate.

On the same conference call on
Friday, McDonnell, also considered a contender to become Romney's
running mate, said he would "evaluate" his options in Virginia now that
the court has upheld the law.

"We don't even know exactly what
that federal exchange would look like, so there's still some
uncertainty at this point as to what the right course is, and in the
next days and weeks we're going to be evaluating the case as well as
the options for Virginia," McDonnell said. "I think each state is
going to have to weigh that and look at the time frame to determine
what to do. But I agree absolutely that the priority right now is to
elect a new president and a new Senate so this law can be repealed."

McDonnell, the chairman of the
Republican Governors Association, added that he has not yet polled
fellow state executives in the GOP about how they plan to proceed after
the ruling, but said that most are looking to the election in November
for guidance.

I believe our So-called Gov already accepted the money. I knew he was a wimp when he was running. He is a Republican, but has no balls. I thought he might have some, when he started a Law like Azs on immigration, but I think he dropped that too when Obama threatened to sue.

Jindal is not a "contender" for anything. Can you imagine MItten on the same platform with him? They are so far apart in the spectrum of personas, backgrounds, educations, wealth,
etc as to be a laughable contrast. Romney doesn't even have lunch with people like Jindal. Really, a hedge fund Billionaire and a "boy" from the bayous of Louisiana on the same bus or jet? Not going o happen.

You never know. Politics does and always has made strange bedfellows. Romney needs an honest man on his side with the BALLS to get things done. I have listened to Jindal, he is not afraid of Obama and he seems to be that man! I think h would make a better VP than Rubio. He is too much FOR immigrants with his Dream act.

Dream on. Jindal is, indeed, given to opening his mouth and letting words come out that he later regrets. We've had some like that from time to time. Recall Ross Perot, Barry Goldwater, Rick Santorum, Sarah Palin, Michelle Backman, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Ron Paul, and dozens more. I just can't imagine the Wall Street hedge fund Billionaire on the same platform with a Cajun from Louisiana pretending to both be "like those poor folks out there". The contrast of the moment would just be so obvious as to become a circus.

The depression began in 2006 and collapsed the economy in 2008 when we were shedding 750,000 jobs a month. Every month since then has been an uptick, with more employed than the previous month. Do you still collect unemployment? Freeloading, or just a whiner?

wait till Friday and you will see an uptick in unemployment .. that sucks.. do I collect? no.. I get out and scrap by trying to find people who can still afford to maintain their tools. The depression started in the second quarter 2007 by that time the Debtocraps had control of both house and senate for a year and a half. I Blame both parties for the economic collapse.. since then it has only accelerated killing off small businesses. You are a whiner praising the debtocraps who have done everything that they can to kill the economy.. Did not work under FDR and has not worked thru this depression.. Keyenes was was wrong then and remains so

You are so full of RWNJ stories that all of history is lost on you. What do you really know of Keynesian Economics? I'll bet you never heard of the second step that Keynes proposed - that during periods of prosperity and economic growth that Government should accumulate wealth and reserve it to be used to level the next downside of the inevitable cycle. Do you want to expound on how that important advice was handled during the twenty years that Republican presidents occupied the White House since 1980?

You are too young to know by experience anything about the Great Depression, it's effects on life in America and around the world, or how it
was overcome. Your "knowledge" is only from books, or more likely, from the words of entertainers and propagandists with media shows. As today, Republican bankers and brokers and those with great residual wealth were enjoying the Depression for they could buy up essential services and businesses without any risk or real investments, just using the assets within control of the banks as loans. FDR had to face them down and move on with policies that favored the 99% who were not playing in the game. Obama has born much the same task, with some success. Note that the automobile industry still exists here in the U.S. and employs nearly two million, notwithstanding the efforts of every Republican to destroy the industry and still complain that these people are employed.

This is the first I've heard of this "budget re-conciliation" as a way to pass a repeal bill. Considering 'Republicans need to win the White House and keep the majority in the House, while gaining enough seats in the Senate' to pull it off, this news should energize the Republican base to get out and vote.

I'm a big-time supporter of Bobby Jindal. I like the way he does things. He's one of the best things that has happened to Louisiana in a long time. He's a real Conservative, no doubt about it. Jindal doesn't pussyfoot around.
