Follow the link to an article about a groundbreaking federal civil rights suit that has been filed against UC Berkeley on behalf of a Jewish student who was assaulted by the head of the Students for Justice in Palestine. (The last paragraph of the article contains a reference to an essay that Leila Beckwith and Tammi Benjamin wrote last year). This lawsuit is an exciting development in the battle against campus anti-Semitism.

why?
Cause we actually fought back when they tried to kick us out of our home.
Or cause we're worried and scared, and trying to get back to our family being held hostage in Israel.
Or maybe because in the war of 2006 between Lebanon and Israel, they bombed our bridges and airports so we couldn't escape, but the US came and evacuated most of us.
Or maybe because the house 7 jewish soilders kicked my grandmother out of wasn't big enough.
(There's still a bunch of bullet holes in the house, especially around the area when my Grandfather was sleeping, and was murdered.)
That's a false statement.
Not all.
But most.
Except my friend Stephanie. She's jewish but doesn't want to be.
Most of the Jews that live around me are liberals who don't hate Muslims. They hate republicans and far-right Christians instead. But I shouldn't use the word 'hate'. It's too strong a word. Maybe I should use the word 'fear' instead. They fear republicans and far-right Christians. Sounds better. And it's not because they are Jews ... it's because they are liberals.
Ever since 2006, I've been short one uncle, and 2 aunts and a best friends.
My grandma is always at home afraid because of the Israeli poison that bombs the Lebanease citizens.
To start the war, they bombed the civilian bridges, and airports, so the citizens could not escape.
Why would they do that?
They said they started it fight Hizbolla, but I think they bombed innocent children, men and women more than they did with Hizbolla.
Where does your grandma live? Lebanon?
I'm interested in learning more about Lebanon. I've read it was once a really nice country but then there was a civil war and some nasty sectarianism. I've been looking for a good history book on Lebanon but can't find one for my kindle. Maybe I'll go up to the university library and look. Do you have any recommendations? I recently read "The Road to Fatima Gate: The Beirut Spring, the Rise of Hezbollah, and the Iranian War Against Israel" - Michael J. Totten. He is a reporter and lived in Lebanon for a while. He said he really liked it before all the violence.
Israel went into Lebanon in 2006 because Hezbollah killed and kidnapped some Israeli soldiers and sent rockets into northern Israel. I watched the news and saw that hundreds of thousands of Israelis fled northern Israel and those that stayed lived in bomb shelters for weeks until Hezbollah stopped sending rockets into northern Israel. The rockets went all the way to Haifa.
As for Israel bombing the civilian bridges, and airports ... that's a normal practice at the beginning of a war to prevent weapons from being delivered to the enemy. NATO did it in Libya and the US did it in Iraq. Unfortunately it does have unintended consequences of restricting civilian traffic as well as weapon traffic.
So we did what they did, except HIZBOLLA launched the rockets. Not the country of Lebanon itself. So all of Lebanon had to pay, even if the weren't for Hizbolla.
And yes I am in Lebanon, and my Grandma is too afraid too leave.
And thank you for your concerns. I'll be happy to answer any questions. I stayed in Lebanon for 15 days during the war, but was able to evacuate.
Ask away.
I will ask three questions and then more next time.
1 Can you recommend a good news site for Lebanon news (in English)? I subscribe to Naharnet on facebook but am not sure if it's a good one to read.
2 And I'm wondering how the Lebanese people feel about Hezbollah? I read it became the majority part of the government lately.
3 What's going on in Lebanon during the so-called Arab Spring revolution? Is Lebanon also having a revolution? I read lots of people from Syria are fleeing to Lebanon and Turkey.
2.) Well. I'm fine with some stuff they do. I mostly support that they helped the Lebanease army drive back Israel.
3.) Well there is no revolution, we just developed our own govenment and we're going to vote for our officials now. And there has been a major BUMP in people here since last time I came. But it's not much of a problem except for the driving, traffic is horrible. Plus it detonattes the fact that I came here and knew everyone because of family, now it's just people. But I'm fine with it.
Goodnight, by the way!
And good Lebanese news sites?
I want to learn more about Lebanon so I'm looking for the Lebanese point of view and culture.

It's very beautiful here.
If I were Jewish, I would repatriate to Israel, where you only have to worry about your enemies attacking you !
I would not blame any resident of California for cheating on their taxes.
