Jewish Archaeological Evidences in Israel

Speedy 2012/08/19 22:21:11
Modern Israel is the renewal of the Jewish State in the Land of Israel, the birthplace of the Jewish people. Archaeological evidence shows that the Jewish people began developing its distinctive religion and culture some 3,000 years ago in Israel. For millennia, the Jewish people have had an unbroken physical presence—whether Israel existed as a sovereign state or under foreign domination.

Archeological research in Israel reveals that the country is the home of the spiritual heritage of the great monotheistic religions. Above all it clearly reveals the historical link between the Jewish people, the Bible and the Land of Israel.

Uncovering the remains, buried in the soil, constitute the physical link between the past, the present and the future of the Jewish people in its country.

This unbroken chain of history can be observed at sites all over the country; in the biblical cities of Hatzor, Megiddo, Gezer, Shomron, Be’er Sheva, and Dan; in the cities of the Second Temple period – Tiberius, Sepphoris (Tsippori), Gamala – and the fortresses of Masada and Herodion, where the Jews fought for freedom; in the Judean Desert near the Dead Sea, where the remains of the Essenes’ spiritual center were uncovered, and the Dead Sea Scrolls, including the earliest copies of books of the Bible were found.

There are 20,000 recognized sites of antiquity in Israel that are protected by law. Every year, dozens of sites from every period of history and in all parts of the country are excavated. Licenses to excavate are issued to expeditions – from Israel and abroad – by the Israel Antiquities authority, which is entrusted with the preservation of the country’s antiquities.

Let's us examine few of them:

Muslims Destroy Jewish Archaeological Evidences in Israel:

From 1948-1967, the Jordanian authorities and military forces engaged in what was described as "calculated destruction" in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City.
Artifacts from the First Temple Period (ca. 960-586 BC) were destroyed when the thousands of tons of ancient fill from the site were dumped in the Kidron Valley and Jerusalem's municipal garbage dump, making it impossible to conduct archaeological examination. The Waqf was accused of trying to destroy evidence of Jewish remains.
Not one Israeli government since the Independence War has done anything to end this archeological and religious atrocity that is leading to the de-legitimization of the Jewish religious, historical and legal claim to Jerusalem and all of Israel.

Not surprising at all that this has and is happening. It is an archaelogical and historical atrocity. Excavating was also stopped in the foundation of Solomon's or Herod's, whichever you want to call it, temple. Doing this actually de-legitimizes any proposed revisionist history by those who destroy.

One question....seeing as Jerusalem is run by a triumvirate equally representing the three major religions to whom this city is sacred...how did the Hebrew/Jewish people agree to this? And the Christians? That's the point, nothing goes on in Jerusalem unless there is agreement between the three,.....

Do you see any problem? In fact, there is equal rights to any person, no matter if he Jewish, Muslim, or Christian. The fact is many "Palestinian" villages in East Jerusalem, don't want to be under "Palestinian" rules, but Israeli rules. and it include Israeli Arabs, so called "Israeli Palestinians", or whatever.

The only problem for Christians in Israel is mostly in the "Palestinian territories." For instance, did you know Christians are persecute in Gaza?

Well, "Palestine" was the name the Romans gave to Israel AND Trans-Jordan. The Jewish land includes Trans-Jordan, unfortunately, Great Britain gave it to the Hashemites.

I must say I preferred it then. We British but also the French, Germans and particularly the Italians have preserved and restored our ancient cities not converted them into a car park. I appreciate that muslim vandals have done their fair share of destruction but what can you expect from them. Israel should restore these cities.
