Embattled Mayor Janice Daniels, who faces a recall effort kicked off after an anti-gay slur on her Facebook page, visited Charlie Langton’s morning show Wednesday on Talk Radio 1270 to share her side of the story.

Daniels told Langton she objected to anyone bringing in the Facebook post because “I made that comment before I even considered running for mayor,” then she offered this:

“What I said while I was mayor … I was in a business meeting, I come from a business perspective … I said that I would bring a doctor into a meeting that would say that the homosexual lifestyle is dangerous,” Daniels said, adding,”Had I been with a group of smokers I might have said I would like to bring a doctor into this meeting to say that smoking is dangerous.”

Is it dangerous to be gay? Langton asked.

“I think that doctors can make a case for it certainly,” the mayor said, adding that she “had no opinion” on whether being gay is more dangerous than smoking.

Yes, it is dangerous to be gay. Why is it dangerous to be gay? Because homophobic people like her are out there and continuously attack homosexual individuals either verbally, sexually, or physically.

"The findings of the report indicate that LGBT people face widespread discrimination everywhere in the world and are subjected to extreme violence, including rape, beatings and torture, evidenced by confirmed reports of mutilation and castration that were characterized by a “high degree of cruelty,” including forcible rape of lesbians, a notorious activity by anti-gay men in South Africa.

LGBT persons also face criminal punishment in 76 countries and risk capital punishment in five countries, including Iran, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen. The report lays out the evidence of widespread discrimination and arbitrary arrests and criminal punishment based upon sexual orientation and gender identity."

"These are the results of a recent investigation by Concordia University into the positive and negative effects environment can have on the mental health of LGB youth. For the study, researchers examined homophobia, both in one's environment and internally, in the form of self-loathing for one's sexual orientation.

The researchers found that internalized homophobia was more prevalent in LGB youth that engaged in arguments over their sexual identity or were the victims of bullying and discrimination. In addition, their production of the stress hormone cortisol was higher than in their peers.

This increase in cortisol was also linked to increased symptoms of depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. However, protective factors, such as social support from parents and peers led the LGB youth to feel more accepted. In addition, those with a stronger support system showed fewer signs of depression."

And oh, I can go on and post more links proving that it is in fact dangerous to be homosexual in America, or anywhere in the world! But again, it's not dangerous for the reasons these homophobic people think it is, it's dangerous because of them and because of their influence.

the only reason it would be considered "dangerous" is because people doing what is perfectly natural are getting attacked by people who think it's not

I guess if you use a condom it is safe, but homosexuality is still to me a perversion.

    She has no clue.
of course i live in GA so i've heard of that sort of dimwitted talk before.
Smoking not only kills people who do smoke it, but kills people who don't.
Being Homosexual has never killed any one, maybe made other dimwitted people uncomfortable, but there isn't any one who can say, "Your gay gave me cancer!"

It's certainly true that being a homosexual makes you far more likely to get venereal disease, particularly AIDS, so I'd say that, yes, it is more dangerous.

That was just a summary they compiled using the CDC's facts & figures. Don't shoot the messenger.

74% of all HIV cases are from male/male relationships. That's scary as Hell.

    No thanks.

That is scary as hell, but the worse part is that the government, or their puppet masters are responsible for hiv/aids. Men were having sex with eachother long ago before aids popped up in a syringe and given exclusively to gay and black men in a few cities as a hepititis b vaccine study...
