PHOENIX — Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill to cut off
Planned Parenthood's access to taxpayer money funneled through the
state for non-abortion services.

Arizona already bars use of public money for abortions except to save
the life of the mother. But anti-abortion legislators and other
supporters of the bill say the broader prohibition is needed to ensure
no public money indirectly supports abortion services.

Planned Parenthood Arizona claims a funding ban would
interrupt its preventive health care and family planning services for
nearly 20,000 women served by the organization's clinics. The
organization says it will consider a legal challenge.

The measure targeting funding for Planned Parenthood for non-abortion
services was one of several approved by Arizona's Republican-led
Legislature related to contentious reproductive health care issues this
session

    GREAT decision.
Let them get ALL their funding through personal donations by those who support their position.
They claim that only 3% of their services are abortion, yet they are the nations largest abortion provider and rack up a 330,000 death toll every year, nationwide.

I think it is a little of both a good decision and a bad decision. I agree that people should make a plan on becoming a parent before they become one. Education is the key for this to be successful. Educating and providing birth control methods to help our youth to not have mother nature make this decision for them is ok and that is part of planned parenthood and thats the part that I think makes this a bad decision. The part that makes this a good decision is planned parenthood supports and provides abortions. Abortion is murder no matter how you look at it or try to justify it. Killing an innocent child because the mother and father of the child don't want to be a mother or father at the time is senseless when there are so many people who would love to adopt the child. Planned Parenthood don't tell about that. The child didn't ask to be born or her mother to get pregnant so why take it out on the child? Thats what Abortion does. There are many avenues that could be taken other than killing the child. There are however some circumstances that even I could overlook abortion. One if the woman was raped and got pregnant as a result or there are medical problems that either the mother or the child but most likely both will die if she carries the baby full term. The problem is those cases don't even make up ONE PERCENT!!! of all the abortions done in a year. Abortion wasn't isn't and shouldn't be used as birth control like it is.

Well, she just made it so the Reichties can demonize women.....That is something they seem to do very well....

They want to return back to the days when a Man goes to a Whore house to sow his oats before marriage....All the while the women he marries has to be a virgin....

If she is not then the Reichtie can demonize her and call her a whore.......

i think if planned parenthood of Arizona is really worried about all the programs they say will be effected by this. the logical move would be to just stop abortion services! then they could get their funding back.they can stand their ground or go to the bank. it's up to them.

Thank you for demonstrating your ignorance for the world to see.

Hitler talked the socialist line until he took office, then he embraced fascism and even went so far as to kill off the socialist wing of his party (see: The Night of Long Knives).

You see, a Marxist/socialist/Communist government would have immediately nationalized corporations and industry. Hitler did not. As a matter of fact, his first act in office (no, not outlawing private gun ownership) was to outlaw labor unions. His 'concentration' camps were actually work camps so he could provide slave labor to his industrialist and corporate cronies as you can see portrayed in the movie Schindler's List. As a matter of fact, over the gate at Auschwitz were immortalized the words "Arbeit Macht Frei" (Work Will Make (you) Free)

No, under a Marxist/socialist/communist regime, corporations don't do so well, but under Hitler such corporations as Siemens, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Daimler-Benz, Bavarian Motor Works, Thyssen Steel and IB Farben actually THRIVED with record profits.

In the 1930s and 1940s the Nazis were widely acknowledged to be right wing, They continued to remain that way until the 1980s when the GOPerCONs mounted a disinformation campaign to convince the weak minded that the Nazis were actually leftists.

Looks like they were successful, huh?

Cut off services for the poor. What a surprise - let them get their healthcare through Walmart. Typical of the RW - more class warfare and lack of humanity.

Jan did what every state in the union should do. Its name sounds so kind, so compassionate, so family oriented - and it is such a crude, cruel, heartless entity that costs small fortunes to maintain. I'm an Arizona resident and I applaud her courage to do the right thing.

You do know why planned parenthood is supported by the government? It isn't to help young unwed mothers get by either. If you don't know then keep reading, researching and learning the truth. It is a very deep rabbit hole.

The controversial practice of abortion must not be funded with taxpayer dollars. To suggest that funds do not get mingled does not fool anyone who is an adult living in the real world.
