I've only been on SH a few weeks, but have found that if you post a rational, well-informed reply to an obviously Conservative member's ludicrous comment, they will 'block' you from making any further replies to them. Has anyone else experienced this?

Some of you Texas women make a lot of sense. I actually got banned, for life???, from CNN.com last week after I made some admittedly unsavory comments concerning Dick Clarke's death. There were zingers being thrown around left and right, and I respected the man for what he was back in the day & I made that clear, but he became a grotesque characature of himself those last 10 years or so and had no business being on TV.....I mean what kind of ego permits him to do that? Anyway, I get it & will try not to get dragged into the muck. I just have a low tolerance for ignorance no matter who is typing it. Obviously I need to pick my battles prudently. Thanks!

Thanks for appreciating my incredibly obviously sarcastic humor. I actually did stand up for a while after I got out of college & find I have been able to inject it professionally as appropriate. I've been burned as well. Hopefully maturity will kick in before I am 50. But what you said about hating for a reason is so, so true. I've made a couple enemies, and with good cause, on SH, so I need need to check it.

Stand up - I can see that, you're good at it. We all have our moments of right and wrong - all guilty at times. Self-awareness / examination is never bad. And where would we be without humor?

I've neither blocked nor been blocked, and I'm conservative. Then again, if I don't agree with someone, it's ok. This is all opinion. If I don't know anything about a topic, I tend to not respond to the question or just say I don't know enough to comment.

Wow. They've obviously hurt you, brother. They've hurt me too, or tried to, aggressively, but so have Conservatives, if that is truly what they are. Saying you are a conservative on a profile page here proves nothing. Likewise for every other option to all the other questions. There is no oversight, and anything can be posted. One must judge the comments for their veracity, and then decide what the posters are, if one insists on labeling everyone a certain way.
Labels may make grouping easier, but for me, I disdain them, and follow my own heart. When that coincides with someone else's beliefs, that's fine, when it does not, look out, you are just as likely to get blocked by liberals as conservatives; moderates and others don't as a rule argue as much as the two extremes.

I only suggested you toughen up because people on the internet generally get mean. I've been called names you wouldn't believe unless you watch Bill Maher. I have a sense of humor about most of this. I can agree with you on some issues, and I can agree to disagree. I have lots of liberal friends and we get along fine although we sure don't agree about everything. I love being conservative. It gives me freedom from PC and brainwashing by the far left.

As a guy, if I happen to have an opinion that is not "Conservative" typically they start attacking my manliness, which I think is really funny; as you need to be pretty secure in your own self to have opinions that may not be popular. If you read many of my posts, you may well hate me; but I think what bothers me the most about any Public Internet Forum is that everything tends to end up appealing to the least common denominator. Anonymity breeds what we used to call "Beer Muscles". You're a tough guy until the guy you are messing with gives you a butt kicking. Too many beer muscled folks here. Believe it or not, I was a lifelong Centrist Republican as far as National Elections went until pretty soon after 9/11. Intolerance and fear became the way to be & I just wasn't about that. I'm also a single dad & I was real lucky that I had a good education and made good coin; but I saw how much others in my position who weren't so fortunate, were getting screwed by the system. Kids were the one's suffering from political decisions and when a society starts blaming kids I think it's time to affect some changes. Don't know if that's you in the picture you posted, but apparently you are indeed enjoying your life. That's the goal.

I do dance and play. I have four kids I raise on my own and we love life. I have done well in life on my own and don't want my kids to become victims. It seems to me many liberals have lost the "can do" spirit and rely on the government for too much.. I am also disgusted by the spending and I follow the money and give my opinion. I stay informed from many sites.

Oh absolutely! When it comes to the welfare state, this country is completely out of it's mind. I don't want to cut of the head of the snake, but there has to be a total overhaul; but how do you do that to an entrenched institution with sometimes four generations abusing it? Honestly, my feeling is that truly hard-core leftists have a lot of guilt about their success and they feel that if they can help out poor helpless minorities, then they can live a life of self-indulgence with a clear conscience. Maybe that's off the base, but I've encountered it. I was just posting to a guy that I am weening myself of the Political part of SH and finding myself on Living, Entertainment, Sports & Music. Curiously, I am finding that I am connecting with the High School Girl demographic as they rave many of my comments & favorite me. It's kind of unsettling!

I lived in Dallas for 6 months on a Construction project near Love Field back in 1992. It was damn near sunny & 90+ degrees all summer long. Lot's of golf & great mexican food. Have fun boating and it was nice chatting with you as well.

Then you have not read my stuff. I identify as Center Left believe it or not. Doesn't appear there is any room left for anyone who is Center Anything these days. Wonder why Congress sucks so bad and has a 10% approval Rating. Paralyzed by extremists on both ends.

Traditionally people in the center are of no concern. Congress really has no issue beyond getting re-elected, they do not represent anything but themselves.

I've had reasoned discussions with perhaps five or six people on the left out of the many dozens I've encountered. I am willing to learn from others and appreciate it if those on the left will keep an open mind to information they didn't possess before. I used to be on the left when I was young until I opened my eyes to information I hadn't considered before.
