See... the problem with raising security is it lowers freedoms and privacy... I swear it's going to come to a time when you have to go through a checkpoint just to leave your neighborhood if we keep focusing on security... we should instead just move on with our lives instead of amp up security on EVERYTHING...
Yeah high security on international flights and stuff is understandable, but we don't need it everywhere...

It's not the terrorists I fear but the (collective) Psyche of the Nation that determines the general State of the Mind. No domestic attacks since, but still a heavy sense of Fear is the dangerous unknown possibly inciting even worse vengeful backlash against a innocent or minor 'mishap'.

Roosevelt said, after Pearl Harbor, "There's Nothing to Fear but Fear Itself", sure keep vigilant but stay calmbut don't let "War Nerves" compel you to ruminate obsessively into a dread of shadows & fester into fanatical paranoid blood-lust.

"When you embark on a journey for vengeance, first dig two graves" - Confucius.

If you're in a constant state of unwarranted fear, all the Enemy has to do is sit back, do a little 'tickling' and wait for America to implode into self-immolation with with little effort & THEY have won. Yes, the Book says "An Eye for an Eye" but that's not meant to be taken literally (as some homeland Fundies insist), Jewish custom is to impose financial or indentured serviitute reparations only & spilling blood out of spite would displease the Lord. Don't pervert yourselves into what you detest most, [s]He's watching.

Freedom & Security work best when prudently TOGETHER, if used opposed, they cancel each other out and failure is inevitable. Even (some of) the Jew...

Freedom & Security work best when prudently TOGETHER, if used opposed, they cancel each other out and failure is inevitable. Even (some of) the Jews were able to laugh in the face of grave peril in the death camps and some survived. They have a tradition of "Gallows Humor" which gave there tormented souls some reprieve and kept their personal psychology hale despite the agony.

Two millennia ago, the Christ concept was personified because the ruling Pharisees turned wicked and Salvation was made available to gentiles & other wretched folks in an attempt to humble them back into Grace. Looks like now, the net is being cast even wider and all social deviants who still show Respect (syn. Love) to Man & Nature are now qualified to find Eternal Peace. All have the Potential, but much won't have the Means, Will or Manner to prudently follow through on the New (Age) Covenant waiting on Threshold of the Pearly Gates, Paradise, Nirvana or whatever Fate awaits.

Since Genesis 2, and a cartoon strip from the 60's, "We have met the Enemy and It is US". The ONE wants us to return as Innocent Children with eyes filled Wonder (ya alahi), not as either Spoiled Brats nor Grumpy Old Men or anywhere on that "Axis of Evil".

Peace Be With You & salaam aleikum

    Amen

This "fear" has become the Republican party's only weapon. George Bush tried to get us every day to be afraid of that word that he could not pronounce correctly, Terror! Terror, Terror! Bush was even afraid of colors! Now, Bush is gone and we all feel a whole lot better.
    Ben Franklin Quote
Terror is only once every 4 years when we have to listen to the rePUBlican party open their mouths and tell us about all that they are afraid of. They fear nature. The GOP fears Dick Chaney. They fear George W. Bush. They fear Dick Chaney. They fear President Obama. They still even fear Bin Laden! In short, the GOP fears every one who is not exactly like them.
    Nature Solves GOP BuSh iT
For the rest of America, our only fear will be that if Romney wins 2012, America will be sold to the highest bidder. China will most likely be the party winning all the bids. Romney will sell us out to China if it makes him $0.25 cents richer! Under Romney, no Americans with out at least as much cash as he has will ever have the chance to retire!

"The Democrats seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and time again that they have the management skills of celery. They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the Economy. The Republicans, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't stop because they'd want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the country club" - Dave Barry

Nothing that the government has done since 9/11 can prevent another attack like 9/11. All they've done is make things harder on US citizens, not the terrorists.

    Just wiser.

Safer from making the same mistakes. But the enemy was clever then and so is still clever now. We do not need to lower our guard ever again.

"those who are willing to give up liberty for a little security, deserve neither and will eventually lose both" ben franklin. so we got patriot act, which is not so patriotic, we got nada? for who's defense? potus sais we answer to nato and the u.n. against all our national interest. read the ten planks of the communist manifesto, we are officially a communist nation whether you believe it or not, read the constitution. democracy is not mentioned at all and is NOT synonymous to being a republic. democracy is socialism PERIOD. people need to wake up, the u.n. wants us to be disarmed citizenry therefor unable to defend ourselves in violation of gods law let alone the second amendment. we saw this at waco and all the current shootings. things are moving so fast now, we need to pay attention to the lies we're being told everyday. like weapons of mass destruction in iraq, they're saying the same about syria and iran, all lies.

They accomplished what they wanted and that was to strike fear in America and remove our freedoms and it has done just that. We have no idea when or where the next attack will happen but we do know (fear) there will be another. So we are no safer then we were before just have more fear of where and when and if I will be the next victim.

I have no idea what you are blabbering on about. Regardless of the president who has sent our troops overseas (its been happening for decades) they should all be brought back. I don't have a problem with Muslims, only with the radicals of which there are also radical Christians. But I agree we shouldn't be sending tax dollars to anyone outside the U.S.

No and we'll probably be owned by one of these countries sooner or later. Since we can't freakin pay back the money we borrow and we keep handing over the money we don't have to these unstable countries. Just another branch of the abused social walfare our government seems so determined to continue.

Complex question very complicated answer yes possibly in only the methods used on 9/11 but at the huge expense of a lot of things we used to take for granted like personal freedom. Flying now is comparable to crossing the border of East Germany in 1967 complete with the complementary full body cavity search. In other ways I really don't think so in the least and ways they may choose to use, but like so many polls on here it's always yes or no black or white no variable.

Anyone who thinks that is diluting themselves. The United States of America is responcible for the destablization of the middle east. Which could be the reason for the next world war. There are thousnads more over there who want to kill any american they can get their hands on. By listening to the news and not researching and not thinking for yourself. Most of you probably think syria is bad and U.S. good. Well U.S. is good. But right here, our own government will KILL EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU! If ever you and your friends decide to climb the fence of the White House. Or make any type of serious move against our govt. Yes they will use real bullits and if necessary, the U.S. military to kill you your mom and dad and anyone else. Even if you are on their side, if you are in the area or in the way. You are going to die. Wake up and smell the gunpowder.

The U.S. started with telling the kurds to fight against hussain and have been telling everyone over there to fight against any authority that doesn't represent absolute freedom ever since. Always asumeing the worst and haveing no proof. Case and point Iran. They have nukes the same way Iraq had nukes. It's all bull and costing "WE THE PEOPLE" hundreds of billions of dollars.
