Quantcast

It might not be popular with the Conservatives ,but as for the rest of us ,..can we have a giant group thinking session for tomorrow, concerning gay marriage, abortion, sex education, science, woman's rights, the separation of church and state, etc??

What you fail to realize is that we, Republicans and Conservatives, have the very same discussions about the very same subjects.

What is the difference between the two?

Our answers and solutions are the right ones. :)

You do not understand the statement of "Separation of church and state".It is not listed anywhere in the Declaration or the Constitution. The only place it was mentioned was in a private letter to a church bishop and it was to reassure him that congress could not pass any laws that would be counter to the church beliefs and "cannon law."

The term was created by Jefferson when he was explaining the constitution.

That term is only in a private letter and was never ment to be used the way it is today. The first ammendment states that congress shall pass no law. If the constitution only applies to the federal government the a sovereign state or a city with in that state shoud be able to have a nativity, menorah or the 10 commandments without the ACLU getting their panties in a twist.

Yes it was, get over it. Putting the 10 commandments on public land with public money is unconstitutional.

I think you need to read the Constitution and the amendments again. Nowhere in there does it say a city, county or state can not have religious figures or commandments. This is a privilege that belongs to the states and may or may not be covered within their individual constitutions.

The US Constitution did not overide the state constitutions or Charters. Since each of the original 13 states Constitutions or Charters have their religious clauses they were still legal after the US Constitution was approved and voted on.

You don't have to be in college. My daughter in high school just had a government class this year and an American History class last year where they spent a week on the Constitution.

No I read from books that were written by people that had direct access to founding father's letters and other written accounts from the first and second generation of the founders. I have a copy of a book from 1864 (pre revisionist) written by Benjamin F. Morris titled "The Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States" You should check it out.

A book written in the 1800's from actual letters and documentation from our founding fathers is not propaganda it is actual factual history. If you are trying to quote from the Treaty of Tripoli you have failed miserably. This is not the correct traslation of the original Arabic. There is no actual Article XI it is only a letter from from one Muslim leader to another. There is a book on Treaties of the US in the national archieves that covers this. It is discussed and documented and referenced in a book By Gary Demar "American's Christian History the Untold Story"

The Constitution did not need to mention GOD because the Constitutions and Charters of the original 13 colonies already had their belief statements and religious oaths with in them. The US Constitution did not nulify the state constitutions or charters.
as a matter of fact the preamble of all 50 state constitutions specifically mention GOD.
  • America... lady_c5... 2012/07/07 11:19:47

Not only does it not mention your god, but it has a separation of church and state, which means you can't use religion to pass laws. No, they has nothing of what you said, stop reading propaganda. The state constitutions don't mean anything over the US one, and the "god" parts were written after the founders time.

It does not have a "Separation of church and state" clause. That is not mentioned anywhere in the 1st Amendment. It is only in a personal letter from Jefferson to a church bishop to assure him that congress could not pass any laws that would run counter to church cannon. There is nowhere that states a church can not participate in politics.

I told you earlier it means that congress can not pass a law that goes against church Cannons. This means that Obama can not make the Catholic church pay for birth control and abortions with their insurance. Yes this Nation was founded on Christian principles. The first schools in the country were taught by the local priest using the Bible. The first 8 universities were all Christian schools, this includes Harvard, Prinston, Yale, Columbia and several others.

It means you follow the laws like everyone else. If it meant what you said then that would mean you could do anything you want if your religion says it's ok.

Name one thing that we follow in the bible. Is it the rule that I have to go to church or that you can sell your daughter into slavery?

It would not matter what schools were first, and they were founded before the constitution anyway. I doubt they were christian anyway, because they aren't now. You are really reaching hard.

God did not establish multiple marriages or slavery. These things were established by man. If you read your Bible properly according to the times it was written you will find that GOD punished those who sinned against His laws. He has even punished whole countries by bringing natural disasters and invading armies. Every time Israel tried to do things their way instead of GOD's way they go invaded and scattered to the 4 winds. Sodom and Gamorah were destroyed for their sinful lifestyle and this is the same lifestyle that our once former great nation is falling into. GOD sent Jonah to Ninivah to tell them to repent or they would be destroyed. GOD is the parent trying to teach us how to grow up properly and be a moral people but if we continue to be defiant he will discipline us just like any good parent would their child.

  • lady_c5... America... 2012/07/12 22:02:53

The proof is in the Bible, it is called "FAITH". I know He is there because He has answered prayers for many people. I do not know where heaven is located but I plan on seeing Him on the judgement day.
