Israel calls up reserves. What can Israel and the world expect?

Normally, the Tzahal (literally, Defensive Armies of Israel)
can call up any one unit of troops one year in three. They can also
call them up for short training sessions in the in-between years.

But The Times of Israel reports that Rav Aluf
Benny Gantz, IDF chief of staff, demanded and got authority from the
Knesset to call up 22 reserve battalions on an emergent basis. He has
called up six of them, and might call up the other sixteen. (See also here.)

Last month, the IDF canceled a tribute to reservists, and then a short-term training session. The reports on both stories blamed “budget cuts.” But now Rav Aluf Gantz has called up more troops to active duty.

Sources told The Times of Israel that Rav Aluf
Gantz is plainly worried about Egypt and Syria. He might have good
reason. The Egyptian regular army has almost lost control of the Sinai.
Arab infiltrators got into the Negev last August and attacked a loaded
bus before the IDF killed them. Some of the infiltrators wore Egyptian
uniforms.

In Syria, 10 people living in a farming village died
from mortar fire from government forces. A UN observer on the scene
told the Associated Press that both sides (government and opposition
forces) have violated the cease-fire that should have taken effect on
April 12.

There's more to this. Why did Rav Aluf Gantz cancel leaves and passes for Passover? And what might he be afraid of? Sure, the Naqba and Naksa Day protest season will start shortly. But Gantz would be deploying his extra troops in the West Bank, not in the Negev and the Golan.

No. He's worried about a replay of the Yom Kippur War.

What do you think is going to happen?

troops west bank negev golan worried replay yom kippur war

Thanks to obama making a mess of Libya, and Egypt, we now have the muslim brotherhood and Iran making an all out war in the Mideast a new reality. obama is looking to finish what was started in WW2. Israel is now in a real life or death position because of obama

Israel is being prudent! They have uncertainty on two key borders. Funny we have a war on our southern border and this administration is so very prudent we reward them with automatic weapons when it spills over ours. They are smart enough not to allow such spillage!

Obvy Israel is preparing itself for the worst. However, this is not a replay of yom kippur. That was a cowardly war in which the arabs could only hope to win on the holiest day in judaism.... and they still lost. In any matter, Israel will always be prepared because of its intuitive thinkers and leaders that preserve and protect the country.

God will protect Israel as he has in the past ... Why do you think Israel always survives the attacks of the Arab nations ... It is a shame the US has turned it's back on Israel ... another Obama blunder ...

Read the question and think: is this about Israel and her response to aggression ? Or, could I slip in some praise for the present administration? No where in the question is there a call for the info you're putting in here.

Iran will not sign a treaty for 7 years unless they need that much time before they attack. Well, in typical Islamic fashion, they may sign a treaty for 7 years, just to deceive and then attack as soon as the libs start celebrating "Peace in our Time".

I wouldn't mind seeing a replay of the 1967 War or the 6 Day War, but I would rather not see a replay of the Yom Kipper War., See the Suez canal filled with sinking Iranian war ships.
See thousands of burning and smashed tanks, See the Egyptian air force bombed on the tarmac as they eat a breakfast of bacon and eggs. See the Syrian Air Force hauling ass for Iran. (I Came, I Saw, I ran)

The real problem lies with Iran's attitude. It makes little difference to Iran if their nukes land in Cairo, Amman, Damascus, Tel Aviv, Gaza, etc.

Iran envisions a world without Israel and the US. I believe they will not attack Israel until they can launch a few at the US as well and hoping Obama will surrender. There are some kind of missile batteries in Venezuela and several thousand Islamic terrs in the US and do not forget the 35 of 40 Islamic terr training camps in the US.

If there is a war, Israel will remain standing as a nation. Israel will be battered and bruised; but it will be standing tall and proud. Which is more than can be said for anyone that attacks her. There will still be people in these countries, but there will be no cities or functioning governments.

When Israel attacks Iran to take out their nuclear program, Israel will be expecting counter attacks from their neighbors. Moving large numbers of troops into position could be anticipatory of those counter attacks..

Egypt and Iran are enemies of each other, as they have been for centuries. Egypt is as concerned about Iran's nuclear ambitions as Israel is. The recent changes in Egypt may or may not change Egypt's peace treaty with Israel (remains to be seen), but they will not change the adversary relations between Egypt and Iran. When Israeli forces were pounding Hamas, and the so-called "liberals" were verbally attacking Israel for doing that, Egypt kept silent, as Hamas was (and still is today) backed by Iran. This is important to keep in mind. Of all the Arab countries, Syria is the only one not hostile toward Iran.

Maybe they are finally going to blow up the Dome of the Rock so they can build the Third Temple.
I was in a video store the other day and they actually had a DVD about this made about 10 years ago, so they've been planning this for a while now. Friends have told me that this is what Israel is all about...getting tons of money to full fill their end times "prophesies".
I guess the people giving up the dough want to see some action.

We do not know. However, with the clock ticking on Iran as far as Israel is concerned, and the instability in Egypt, and the conflict in Syria, it does seem prudent for Israel to be ready for anything, and ready to confront whatever may come to pass.

The Iran situation is of the making of the regime that runs Iran, and it continues to ramp up. Israel can only be kept from taking action for so long, and we have been holding them back from doing something since Bush 43 was in office, so everyday is closer and closer to that action happening.

Certainly should the situations in Egypt and in Syria boil over to include Israel, those are not something Israel wants to be dealing with at the same time it is disabling Iran's nuclear weapons capability. Therefore the action that will be taken on Iran looms very close.
