Isn't annoying when people refuse to engage you and just block you from responding.

I just make comments, if someone responds then I choose whether or not to respond to them. If it isn't progressing and/or going civilly I abandon the exchange.

Bolcking is what someone does when they are losing an argument. I have never, ever blocked anyone- I am more secure in being able to defend my positions- without calling other people names or degrading them

Too many SH's cannot grasp the idea of agreeing to disagree. It is not my intention to changed the opinions of others, but I will read their opinion. If I agree, sometimes I will say so, but usually if I do not agree they will never know it. It is ridiculous to trade a war of words that leaves hard or harsh feelings.

Hard to understand why people block you for asking them WHY they think what they do. How they arrived at their conclusion and they start complaining about how it is not their job and somehow, because I ask, they couldn't change my mind.

But since they don't try, how do they know?

I have never blocked anyone but there are times when I choose not to reply to someone. Example: The topic is gay marriage and I express support. I get a response from someone disagreeing based upon their religion. Now I have had this discussion countless times and I understand very clearly why they feel the way they do. Beyond saying the person has the right to believe what he or she chooses to believe, why answer?

I can understand that some people want to engage in debate and others don't. Depending on my mood, I may or may not go back & forth with someone. But I don't see why so much blocking is necessary, unless the person is relentless in their BS.

See Kevin, you have to attempt to have rational discussion, you have very poor skills in this area, that's why you get blocked. Get a clue, then things will get better. Of course you can always go to the circle jerks, you know, the polls by Che ;-)

That's interesting you should say that, as it seems that the two thread creators who have blocked me are the ones who had irrational positions and could not handle a bit of reality.

  • TheTailor Kevin 2012/04/06 11:35:12

Well if that's the case you must not be paying attention, or you haven't had enough education to recognize socialist behavior, or you are in denial, or, the most likely scenario (because it's SOP for "progressives"), you are lying.

That's the most common reason people block so called "progressives", they lie, outright and in your face. You know, blatant lies, lies of omission, twisting issues. The funniest thing is you don't think anyone knows, but we all see it, that's why people are fleeing progressives and leaving the Democrats.

if you have an opinon, you should expect someone to say something against it. that's just the way it is. hold you argument.

Everyone is not on this format for the sake of argument, many are on here to state an opinion without arguement. You either agree or disagree, and if you disagree you do so by agreeing to disagree not by arguing, calling people names, or proclaiming that they are stupid because they don't think like you. They will argue you to the grave, even curse you or just talk out the box, so as one of your options states, you silence them.

Ok if your having a argument and it's just you and another person. Then someone else should not come in the conservation .Because the consevatiojn does not invoule them. But if it's a group argument then ok they can join the conservation. Why not?.

Some people on SH can't seem to have a civilized discussion. They start name calling and try to paint you as stupid, an idiot etc. I like to go back and forth on an issue, any issue, but if the name calling starts, I just ignore them. I think I have only blocked one person and that person had blocked me first. I have only been blocked by one other person who didn't like what I had to say about a certain organization with which they were affiliated. I was unblocked after a while and we're still "friends". A lot of people just want to let off steam and those are the ones you need to watch out for.
