A disturbing reality check brought forth a major concern with Social Security Benefits! Finding numerous years within the SSA earnings report showing $0 earnings for that or those years while knowing a IRS tax return was filed for that or those years gave me the impression that SSA does not work or correspond well with IRS records and both filed under your SS ID! What was really disturbing and a reality check was when contacting SSA about the errors, which will also reduce the true rightful amounts through any SSA benefit claims, was being told they rely on either the employer information they report or IRS.
The questionable worry now leaves an impression that if in fact they relied on IRS tax returns filed would keep those SSA earnings report records better up to date! But it would seem that isn't the case and manual computer recorded records can easily contain errors. In the case with SSA, errors going uncorrected will reduce your rightful benefit monies!
It would seem that unless you check your records to make sure everything within the report are true and correct, you may find your SS benefits being deemed lesser then the true and rightful amount paid to you through the SSA benefit programs! Not questioning or keeping watch of possible record inefficiencies of any and all records and errors...will cost you and can disappear to who knows where! If you filed a tax return but your SS Earnings report for that year shows $0 earnings...your true earnings for that year is not counted or included in the amounts you get if filing SSA for retirement or disability!

Southern Man 2012/07/26 00:55:08With Errors+5I won't get into details but the Government has ripped me off for 68,000 and change and at this point I can do nothing about it ... My Lawyer told me we have to wait .. I'm a little pissed off it has cost me plenty so fare

Also, the amount you receive is figured by the last 7 year you worked, This is because of the inflation rate over a span of several decades. know this because I have been receving my SS for about a year now, ad I had a mess up, my fault, when I applied. I forgot to add that for two years I was on SSI, which was under the state, and did not realize that I needed to include that info because the SS people would not know but it. It took about 3 months to strighten the mess out.
I oppose the government taking property from one citizen and giving it to another without due process of the law.
